Re: Time for a New Boat

... if you already like the Ocoee design, going lighter and stiffer with that hull, is pretty amazing. Depending on how light the layup, you get the feeling you are just moving YOU across the water, not you AND a canoe. I treated my plastic versions more carefully over a longer time span and still ...

The Hype is Real: A Review of the Waka Sneeze

... make an excellent creek boat. So that has it, I’ve had some of the more enjoyable days on the river of the last decade in the last few months just feeling young and sporty again. I’m not sorry I left, because as Paul Schriener told me once, don’t regret anything because you’d never be where you ...

... foot pegs. Less common are foam ankle wedges/lifts/blocks/supports, which might help improve your comfort during long days in the saddle. I’m also feeling it after a self-supported 4 night wilderness whitewater trip—I tried out a used/new to me Rival OC1. The Ocoee is pretty tight for anything ...

Someone sell me a New Wave Viper C-1

Do it quick, I'm so happy right now, the feeling might wear off.

(Seriously, I've got the disease.)

In praise of the Blackfly Condor

OK, feeling a bit guilty here. 'Been meaning to post something on the Condor for a couple of months now. I don't own a Condor and don't actually own any Blackfly boats at present and no, don't get paid anything from any-boat-body. ...

... in part, due to the Caption's round edges - really looking for something that can carve. Not sure the Storm Giant would be profoundly different feeling than the Caption, though certainly drier. Any thoughts? I'm going to go looking for your review, thanks for the heads up!

Re: Comparing new OC-1 solos for 200+lbs

Im a 230+ paddlers and am currently rocking a 91 for my stepup runs and when im feeling lazy. The covert 9 3 that i use for most class 3-4 runs. I've paddled these others to. And if I were starting my quiver over today. I'd have an 88 for creeking, and 20/20 for ...

... design with the sexyiest look yet for the Blackflys since the alum. Molded Option dropped. The Condor is stable but not overly stable(the ol barge feeling) the bow has just the right amount of rocker and rise to get you up and over but not so much as to hit the wall when puncking big holes and ...

Documenting the Shasta River Canyon

... felt good, and I was pretty sure there was plenty of water, even in the places I hadn’t been able to see during our primitive pre-scout. Call it a feeling. I was surprised at the speed of this river. Even in the places were the water is technically flat, it is still moving very fast. I estimate ...

Re: Newbie from the North Woods

Ditto on carving any more out of the back--what you did was probably enough. Keep sitting in the canoe, feeling where there is pressure on your legs that is keeping you from sinking in all the way, and trimming the foam accordingly. Eventually you'll get there--a perfect custom fit.

Re: Covert vs Rebel Handling?

Faster, drier, and less edgy than a Viper 12, better feeling stability, imo. Since it's less edgy than a Viper 12, that creates a more forgiving feeling to it. Other than the modern design, this marks the first time that an 11ft+ boat has been produced ...

... amazingly indestructible. I own 2. I use a 6 1/2" saddle, which helps with my 6'3" and weight that fluctuates between 215 and 190-. Other than not feeling as flexible or fit, the 25lb difference doesn't really change the performance that much. You could make it work.... The other pitch I would ...
