Thanks LBtin
I sent in for the registration without the serial number. I didn't realize that was an option earlier. The world's got too many dam numbers anyway. I should have probably just submitted "HD-1" since it would have probably been the only one in IL. I did my early learning in a Dagger Rival. The HD-1 i...

Serial Number -- Perception HD-1
I am attempting to register my HD-1, OC1 in Illinois (don't get me started!). I searched all over the boat for a serial number and have not found it. Questions: Did Perception even put serial numbers on their canoes back in the 70s? If they did, do you know where to find it? Incidentally, I recently...

Cheap OC1 Outfitting
I recently bought an old OC1 that came with only a kneeling thwart. I don't want to put much into this boat. What would be a frugal (cheap) option for outfitting with saddle, thigh straps, and knee pads? I will not use this boat for anything higher than Class III and will not be rolling it. So, mini...

Specs on HD-1
Anyone know the specs on the Perception HD-1? I mainly want to find out the amount of rocker.
Thanks,
Lou

Blue Hole Sunburst
When did Blue Hole switch from the original Sunburst to the Sunburst II version?
Does the serial number SRA-1573, purchase date Aug. 1987 tell anyone about which version this might be?
Thanks,
Lou

Sunburst
DougB, Thanks for the correction on the Sunburst specs. Three inches of rocker seems much more reasonable. Perhaps there are differences in how rocker is measured.
So, yes, the Sunburst looks like it would match what I was looking for.

Evergreen Specs for the Sunburst
Dan, Evergreen's website, http://www.evergreencanoe.com/canoe_sunburst_ii.html , shows that this boat has only 1.5 inches of rocker. Is this the same as the original version? If it is, was this the norm back then and when did more rocker start entering the picture for WW boats? I also notice that th...

Cache?
If it is still in my cache, would I be able to open up the pages on the website that I did not previously open? I just opened up a bunch of pages I had not opened yet. Does the entire site, including all the pages open into my cache when I open only one page on the site? Or am I in a different unive...

Bench Seats and Knee Straps
Eric, I accept your points. I was just thinking of having something to keep my knees from sliding forward in the pads and keeping the straps very low on the knee. I have the bench seats raised in all my solos. Still plenty stable for me. (My foot size ... just too revealing ... lets just say I'm les...

Bell Knee Straps
Eric Nice outfitting job! For a canoe outfitted with a bench seat it appears that the use of the knee straps would not create any potential exit problems that the use of thigh straps might create. Have you outfitted any of these knee straps in boats with bench seats? Also, for carrying camp gear in ...

Wow! Thanks!
A wealth of good information in this short thread! Thanks to all of you.
Gave me a chance to review and reconsider some boats. The Canoe Colorado reviews are particularly helpful.
I need to work on my outfitting in my WW boat too. My first move will be adding some ankle support.

Osprey
TommyT Good pick there with the Osprey. Funny too, because I used to own one! That was before I had developed my skills enough to appreciate what I had. I bought it partly on its looks -- what a beautiful boat! I hated to put a scratch in it so I sold it! My attitude about that has changed 180. But,...

WW/Flatwater Hybrid OC1 ???
Are there any WW OC1s that would be halfway decent for paddling flat water and for packing enough stuff to river camp for a couple of days on either WW or flat water? Capable of running solid class II and limited class III stuff, manueverable enough for the not-steep-creeking stuff, and not be a tot...

I am sure you are absolutely right about this observation. Probably a majority of WW open boaters have at least one flat water boat in their stable. For many this reflects their progression from flat water. Plus, many of us live quite a distance to whitewater so we continue paddling flatwater. Many ...
