Northwater tandem spray cover for Mad River Freedom $275

The spray deck cover has never been used or installed on the boat. It was custom made by Northwater for Mad River Freedom 16ft boat. Have no idea how it might fit other similar boats as I'm sure that may be the question du jour. New price is over $600. Northwater has all kinds of info devoted to thi...

in the water...

Tiggy,

We have also discussed what to do in our house if it is on fire. Although most house don't catch fire, it's not a bad thing to consider.

self-rescue...hello? goodbye?

When to abandon your upstream hold (if you have one) on OC during a swim? OK, so the obvious is to let it go before a waterfall or strainer etc. Or to go for that eddy if a long gnarly section is coming up. But what about that swim in the middle of a III- rapid when a rather turbulent drop is coming...

you started this post...how bout a photo

Chris Although I have no idea how to attach a photo on these posts, I'm figuring anyone that is a judge and don't know how to spell "skart"--not skert--might not also. But it would be cool to see a pic of your setup in either boat. Description would be fine too. I don't want to be diggin a hole into...

zephyr weight

Al, From some previous posts it seems that the newer version of the zephyr (after first round of 32 #'s develped a few pinhole problems or whatever) come out to be 36-38 #'s. Still pretty light for what folks are saying is a fairly rugged boat. Feedback is that it is pretty high performance, faster,...

how come your are selling rival?

Hey, i think we talked about flashfire a bit ago. My Kaz rival was just delivered couple of weeks ago. I needed something really light and a bit more forgiving than the rest of Kaz boats. I am really pleased with it for my more laid back paddling but still discerning perspective. i'm guessing your b...

glass kevlar tie downs

I read about glass kevlar anchors on Zephyr from chris. I too have use this on our caption--royalex of course. I have seen some unsightly things happen over the winter with these, not in only our caption but on another. Cold and perhaps stress has caused some very shallow cracks around the perimeter...

Zephyr--searched old post need more info

After reading past posts on Zephyr, I am left still with a number of basic questions: Do the boats only come outfitted by esquif? Sounds like the royalite like difficulty with getting outifitting to adhere to hull? Details on what adhesives to use for home outfitting, if possible, would be appreciat...

long paddles....

If only... I would have realized that a shorter paddle for OC1 would actually be great. 58.5" for me at 5-10" equaled AC osteoarthritis. Shorter (57) was better and worked fine. Perhaps paddle length may never affect many paddlers as we all react differently to all things. But, if you can be happier...

lots of options for you

As you have already taken the Stecker's class and have had some experience, I would advise going on RMCC's and Poudre Paddlers's websites and looking at the multitude of trips planned. Some are not that big at all, nice people and is probably a good way to hook up with others for smaller excursions....

width of rival and outrage

Thanks for the returns on kevalar Rival question. By the way, after reading some of the previous complaints about widith of Rival and more difficulty of cross strokes, I came up with some interesting measurements: Rival outer to outer wood: 27 inches (Royalite dagger boat). This is a really nice wid...

kevlar rival--any feedback?

I've been reading all the recent flurries comparing Rival to outrage. As owner of royalex outrage, and what little I have heard and know about royalex rival--I'd tend to go along with most comments. That is pretty they seem to be pretty similar boats but outrage a bit snappier, probably mostly due t...

I think you'll be ok

boaters in Colorado have seen C1's before, so I think you just might be ok. although some things run into fall and even now, the mainstay is dependent on snowmelt, albeit most everything is released. Gore Canyon is still runnable, I think, and so is Shoshone on the Colorado and a few other things. N...
