Re: Repairing hold-down on a Royalite boat.

Yeah, I read somewhere that older Royalite didn't use vinyl, but some other coating on the interior and that it changed later on to vinyl. Given this is a genuine Dagger canoe, I'll err on the old side... Unless somebody can tell me a way to verify it's vinyl? I have some RAKA epoxy left over from r...

Re: Repairing hold-down on a Royalite boat.

My Rival is the Royalite version. My understanding is the interior surface is not vinyl, hence using Sta-Bond instead of Vyna-Bond. I'm wondering if epoxy isn't the way to go. You can't get Sta-Bond in small quantities and it quickly goes bad once the container is opened.

Thanks,

Doug

Repairing hold-down on a Royalite boat.

One of the main flotation bag cage D-rings in my Royalite Rival gave up and blew out. I used Sta-Bond on it back when I installed it, but for the life of me, I don't remember why. I installed the saddle and Yee strap system with plain old rubber cement - those haven't gone anywhere. It's time to fix...

Re: Curved blade versus flat blade

Hmm... That's something to ponder. My main whitewater paddles are a 58" Grey Owl Hammerhead and 56" Aquabound Edge carbon. Nothing particularly special but extreme opposites. I've been asked if the Hammerhead is a rafting paddle. I have a hard time liking the Edge because it feels like it just mushe...

Re: Curved blade versus flat blade

Forgive me if this is an ignorant question. Assuming equal shaft flex, length, etc., how could a curved blade paddle be easier on the joints unless it has a softer catch or otherwise more slip in the water than an equivalent flat blade?

Re: Probably an obvious and redundant question:no 2016 Calen

Correct - as announced last year, 2014 (2015 Calendar) was the last year for the Calendar, and we shut the store down in late spring (yes, I know, we still need to redo the header). We really enjoyed having C Boat related goods and an awesome calendar, but with young kids around we haven't had the ...

Mohawk Canoes? Or - "Where to get good flotation bags"

I'm hell-bent on resurrecting my Dagger Rival and getting back on the river this year - tired of having excuses for missing ALF. My flotation bags have seen better days and I want to go up a size in the bow anyway. Is Mohawk still around? Their site is there, but looks semi-abandoned. Are they still...

Title says it all. Don't see a peep of a post about it.

Re: Help, my boat has RoyaLeprosy!

FWIW. I repaired the severely ground down bow and stern (to the core) of my 2nd or 3rd hand Royalex river tripper with JB weld mixed on the soft side as a general body filler and Xynole cloth + Raka 127 epoxy + silica thickener + graphite filler as protection. That repair has survived my lack of ski...

Well, I thought I'd toss the offer out there. If you think you might need a place to stop, lemme know before Feb 22.

Ether way, enjoy ALF.

Open hostel offer for anyone passing by Cincy to/from ALF

Hey, this is aimed at northerners heading down to ALF via I-75 or I-71. I busted my shoulder (muscles) twice last year and am going to start from zero this year. Since I'm going to miss ALF, I'd be more than happy to offer up my place as a stop on the way down there. I'm in Cincinnati, about 5-10 mi...

Re: Question about bilge pump

I have a Rule 1100 with the exact same problem; once it sucks a small amount of air, it won't recover. In my case, it was sucking air through a seam in my saddle even with inches of water in the boat.

Maybe it's time for a Tsunami.

Thought I'd post an update: I saw my Orthopedic specialist over several weeks and he's convinced that my issues are neither neck nerve related or rotator cuff issues. However, I didn't make sufficient progress between visits and prescribed PT, the session of which I went to today. Both my Ortho and ...

I have an appointment on Wed. with and Ortho/sport shoulder specialist who's part of a highly rated local practice. Warren G. Harding III; who could forget that name? I looked back in my records, asked family and reconstructed the history of my neck trauma. Back in 04 I was rear-ended by a car on th...

Thanks for all the great info. I have a better idea what/who to look for when I start my calling around on Monday. I tried an ibuprofen regimen, but the pain is simply too much at times to rely on it solely. I've been carefully switching between it and acetaminophen based pain killers prescribed to ...
