Louie, you are a wealth of information about Mexico.

Man, the next time you come to México, I would really like to get together with you. Iǘe lived in Coatepec, Veracruz for the last 8 years and lived in the Port and city of Veracruz for the previous 30. I've been here for the last 38 years and love it. You don't have to do too much math to see t...

Thanks Louie.

one other thing while I know there is good whitewater all over Mexico. I think the Veracruz area might have the most disversified type of rivers. When you have the Alseasan and the Antigua with in an hour of each other you have a wide range of river types awfull close to each other. And another cou...

This is not about C boats but about Mexico

Just found this on a dagger blog and is about the multi-mentioned "Rio de Oro" in the southern part of the state of Veracruz in the area known as "Los Tuxtlas". Louie seems to be the cboat expert on the area and might want to add a bit more information.

enjoy,

Winter is over by Feb, all four days of it. The worse you might see is a Pinche Norta which is a cold north wind, highs in the 60's. However up on the Alseasan it is usually cloudy with a cold drizzel a lot of the time. When there is a norta the beach moves inland and you will have sand and grit ev...

I just got a brand new Wave Sport Z from the distributor in Mexico City. A friend of mine called them because I never thought they would have a new one in stock. I thought that they hadn't been made for a couple of years. Now just have to figure out how to get an outfitting kit down here. Thanks to ...

" First as a selfless friend to all of us and second as the whitewater pioneer that really got Mexico started. Steve Abbott will always be with us." Yes, he is missed. I've been running the Guad. since the late 70s It was my first non-brown river. With the hypo-limnetic release from Canyon lake, ev...

Re: Z

Very stable boat on the Gauley and Upper yough, great surfs on the Ottawa. Per Bernie maybe 8 years ago I took a piece of Kevlar and epoxied it to the inside of the hull and then made a foam pedestal 6 1/2 inches high. Used Northwater wide double attachment velcro straps. They keep you tight if you...

I've had two Z-1's. They are great boats. Very stable. Medium fast for the length/volume. Great river runner. OK playboat as long as surfing and flat spins satisfies you. With the possible exception of an Overflow X, the Z is the best all around conversion I have paddled. Can't ask for a better rec...

A Z should be good river runner / playboat. [I was shopping for one when I ended up with my UltraClean. I eventually replaced the Ultraclean with a Score, the slightly longer, pointier brother of the Z.] I had a chance to paddle a Z and liked it - it surfed well and I could flatwater cartwheel it w...

Re: Conversion saddles

Bernie with Whitewater Warehouse in OH has a friend John who is designing conversion kits. The company is East Coast Canoes- I looked for them a little this morning but couldn't find the web page. Maybe someone else here has contact info. Thanks Bill, you are always there with the answer. Since I a...

Re: Wave Sport Z

I've been paddling one for 4 seasons in up to (easy side of) class 4. I'm 5'10", 175-180# (without gear!). It's a short boat, especially for a single blade. Your can make up some speed on hairy ferrys by cranking it up on it's substantial edge, but it still has a 6.5' length at waterline. It's a wa...
