Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?

Milkman is right about Blackfly, Silverbirch, and Esquif all making great boats in plastic. I would suggest not purchasing a boat you have not spent some time in. Every design ever produced has some who will rave about them. Every design also has others how find them lacking in some way. I think you...

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?

There are cboaters in CO. One option to learn more about open boating is the CO KanuFest, hosted in Buena Vista every summer (usually in July.) Last year we ran the Ark (mostly Fractions and Browns), Foxton, and the Poudre. For the last few years, Black Fly canoes was there with demo boats. Lots of ...

Re: Source for wood t-grips

I think I am going to give making my own a try. Except for the bit, which I think I can borrow, looks like a not too expensive project.

Thanks,
Dirk

Source for wood t-grips

I want to cut down one of my paddles and would need a new tgrip. Any recommendations? Looking for wood and would need all parts of the T. Needs to fit down in a composite shaft.

Thanks,
Dirk

Re: open boaters in texas

There are some open boaters in TX, but not enough. So, we look forward to your move. I'm in Austin and know a few other open boaters in the area, some very, very good. If in Austin, you will be lucky that you have a park-n-play spot 40 miles south. See this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/riovistap...

Re: L'edge vs. Blackfly Octane 85

I would second the recommendation on the Prelude. I came from an Ocoee and found the transition easy. I'm 5'10" and 175 and find it lighter and more stable than people give it credit. And surprisingly stable full of water. I've not paddled the Option or Octane 85.

Would you add a screw to hold everything together? Thanks

Gunnel Repair

I have a cracked gunnel (in wall) on a Pyranha Prelude. Outside was cracked, but repaired by previous owner. What is the best ADHESIVE for the job? I have G-Flex, but wonder if a wood specific glue is better. Hoping to clean it up a bit, squeeze in the adhesive, and clamp and/or add a screw.

Thanks to everyone for checking their fleet for possible boats. I'm going to buy Dean's. Thanks again.

WTB: Esquif Taureau

Looking for a used Esquif Taureau. My son (11) wants to move from his kayak to an open boat (yes!). Sounds like a Taureau would be an ideal first open boat. We are in TX, but I have a friend heading east in September (Gauley Fest, NOC, Atlanta, Charlotte, etc.) and he has room to bring back the boat...

Re: Esquif Taureau in Asheville, NC $350.00 or trade

I am interested in this for my 11 year old. He wants an open boat!!!

Struggling to see how to get it from NC to Austin.

Any chance you were planning on going to Week of Rivers and would be willing to hand it off to someone then/there?

Thanks,
Dirk

Re: kiddie boats

Has anyone seen one of these? Looks like royalex and the quoted dimensions seem close to a kid sized boat. Although the picture looks shorter than 6 ft. If cheap enough to produce a cooler, why not a kid's OC1? I would not even mind the beer advertisement on the side. http://austin.craigslist.org/sp...
