I have a Detonator and its a great boat for all classes. Strong, fast, turns well and has great edges. May want to think about that too. Plus its a little shorter, so it allows you to get through some tighter places.

I used a 60" before, but I have very long arms (I mean like ape long arms) and the rivers around here are really shallow and rocky, so I chose to go a little shorter to have more blade in the water. Thanks for the info, I was thinking that the 58" would be a good size.

C1 paddle size

Hi There,
I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb when choosing a paddle size for a C1. I am currently paddling a Esquif Detonator and using a Werner Bandit size 58". I am 6'1" and I was wondering if I need to shorten my paddle if/when I move into a C1.
Thanx

Hey Curtis,

I am an OC boater (looking at getting a C1 real soon). My friend and I live in Fort Collins. The Poudre River has lots of different levels of ability if you are interested.

If you want to drive an hour north you can paddle the Poudre. Its low, but runnable. Lots of different levels, from class V to class II.

Outfitting a BlissStick

Hey All,

I am looking at a BlissStick RAD185. I want to turn it into a C1. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this boat as a C1? It says its good for big people, which I thought was good considering the nature of c1'ing and the need for room inside.

Any info would be great.

Thanx

I have a 2007 Honda Fit. Its a great little car. The insides fold around so that you can put almost anything in there. Before I got a rack on my car, I put my OC1 (10 foot Detonator) and my buddies kayak (6'6") in the car, plus our gear and him (with some fancy sitting). The OC1 hung out of the car ...

Hi All, Thanks for you all your help, even the bean bag chair ;-) I did some snooping around and found the Yakima system on sale at REI, its 50% off and all the accessories are like $20 (regular $90). So for the price and ease, I decided to go this route. I really appreciate all your help and great ...

Canoe rack for an apartment

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has a design or knows of a product out there that I can use to put my Esquif Detonator (10 feet long) up in my apartment.

Thanks!

I just moved from Canada to Fort Collins and have bought an Esquif from the shop you are talking about. And I can tell you that it is cheaper to buy it here in town than it is in Canada. I was looking at a used Esquif and it was going to be $1500 + tax. I got a Detonator outfitted and with the pump ...

How would epoxy hold up on the plastic? I know it has been used for other canoeing ventures and mounting bindings on skis.

Wavesport C1 conversion

Hi there, I am looking to convert my Wavesport ZG54 to a C1. I was wondering if anyone has done this and would have any insight. Also, any feedback on whether these would suffice for knee straps would be great: http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442620731&FOLDER%...

Kayak for trade for solo canoe

Hi All, I have a Wavesport ZG54 that I am looking to trade for a solo canoe (outfitted). The kayak is new last summer and has seen the water only about 5 times. To sweeten the deal I am willing to add a LevelSix skirt and an AquaBound Shred paddle (196 cm). Contact me if you are interested. Thanx, R...
