Four Canoes on the Green Narrows

On Saturday morning Tad Dennis called and left a message. Tad never calls me. He texts. I discovered the message when Gina and I were at REI that afternoon. His message was simple enough, “Call me back.” This was interesting. I shot a quick text back, “What’s up?” Less than a minute later he respond...

Fun footie from Wilson's Creek, Sat 13 Jul 2013

Although there was a lot of other stuff going off, I had to be home early, so Wilson's it was. Granted, I really cannot complain about Wilson's at 11" in the middle of July!

Enjoy!

Re: Just an idea...

The easiest solution, Google Calendar. Embed it in the website, but people can also add it to their own respective Google Calendars as overlays. I have a separate calendar I maintain for every release in the southeast so I can, at a glance, see how my schedule compares to the releases.

Playing in Slalom Boats in Charlotte

Today Tad Dennis and I headed to the whitewater center to just have fun in pointy fast boats. I brought along the GoPro and caught a little footie.

Here is the quick and dirty edit: http://vimeo.com/64034377" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It requires a password: slalom.

Canoe Community on Google+

Google recently opened up Google communities, so I created one for those of us biased toward paddling whitewater with one blade. Please feel free to jump in and use it!

The 3D was hard to initiate and slow, a real lemon of a design. A year later with the Amp, they got it right. This boat however, was horrible.

Interesting thing though, put a good C-boater in a kayak, and they will have no trouble, usually to the surprise of most kayakers standing around. However, put a good kayaker in a C-boat, and if they have no previous experience, this will prove entertaining for most standing around. A perfect exampl...

Past a point, it is all water...choose your weapon. Truly good paddlers can paddle a park bench with a log for a paddle.

Although the canoe had the fastest entry into the current, the bottom left had the fastest line to the next gate as he was headed more downstream. Also, agreeing with the above post, entering an S with the maximum lateral motion, driving through the curves with the hips and using the bow rails inste...

It is interesting how good canoeists can easily hop in a kayak and let it rip, but good kayakers cannot simply hop in a canoe and do the same.

My Ocoee with very full bags used to do the same. An underwater pull with the paddle is all it takes. Sometimes it more resembles a kind of half-roll. Once you know how to get to your good position and have a little awareness under there, it is just part of the game.

If it is a Savage boat, it is the SuperFly, and it is symmetrical.

Charlotte Footie

Cathy got some pretty good footie in a coupe of workouts recently here in Charlotte, so I threw a few of these clips together and uploaded it to YouTube. See what you think.

There were most definitely a couple of moves best described not as difficult, but rather just weird. Six and seven most definitely fit into this category. Ten through 12 were the same. The moves were on water not really very consistent, especially the exit from 10 to 11, considering the wave changed...
