I run around 200 lbs, am not terrificaly tallented or atheletic and paddle an Atom and an Outrage. The Outrage is more forgiving but not to any great degree. The Atom is easier to paddle than any conversions I've tried. It's way more fun than a Cascade (if you can find one). There's a good thread on...

Composite Creations

Makes the Splash and another boat they call the Bulldog both with built in flotation tanks.

Al Greve, who posts here, designed the Splash and probably could tell you how the tanks hold up.

John Winters Osprey is what you are describing. You can buy it from Swift http://www.swiftcanoe.com/canoe/solo/osprey.htm or get plans from Green Valley http://www.greenval.com/osprey.html It's easily as manuverable as the Wildfire and MUCH dryer. Not a boat for technical class IIIs but quite happy ...

Bulkheads, made well, would work fine so long as you never slam, hit, bounce or otherwise impact the boat. My boats aren't treated that well. I think The Splash ( canadian kids OC1) has flotation chambers laid up as part of the hull. Maybe some others? I wonder given "normal" abuse, how often they r...

Hey kids, The switch just needs to be in series with the pump. Doesn't matter if it's on the + or - side. Since there is only one load and no ground there really is no common. The current is constant throughout the circuit. When the switch opens the voltage drop goes away. The arc as the contacts op...

I've got a few boats including your fav the Atom and wouldn't mind getting out one of those days. Like Craig said there's usualy something running. Though it might be too high (for me) or boney depending on the weather.

Heidi, Running two 1250s together a 10 amp slo blow fuse ought to work. I'd put it in between the + terminal of your battery and the wire you conect up to the + terminal now. Sbrassfield, You are right. It will work fine without the fuse and there will be no danger so long as your pump or wiring doe...

Electric Pump - No Fuses

Reading Colin's pump thread, someone mentioned not using fuses. Anybody running a 12 volt pump in their boat without fuses try this. Get a lead acid 12 volt battery and run a 16 gage or smaller wire from + to -. Yeah short that puppy out. ( some of the newer batteries, Lithium Ion in particular, may...

Well I bought Rod's Encore. Sorry Matt.
It's a pretty cool design. Amazingly dry. Too bad they don't make them any more.

I'd still be interested in an Outrage X if anybody has one for sale.
Like I said before, within four hours of Boston.

Say when Matt.
If I don't have the Encore I'll just beat my Outrage till it shatters.

Bill M,
Thanks but Tennesee is a bit further than 4 hours from Boston.
I like to put my hands on a boat before I buy it.

Rod,
I sent you an email.

Converting

The Ikkuma looks interesting. A few years back I put a GyraMax saddle into a CD Solstice GT (sea kayak) and paddled it a few times. That boat has a 24" beam and feels super stable sitting on the butt pad. Kneeling on the 6" saddle it felt pretty tender. Another problem with that boat was it's round ...

In my Dreams

I've been dreaming of an Ocean going C1 for quite a few years now. For me being able to kneel rather than sit is a prime consideration. If not for that I'd likely just paddle a Sea Kayak. The Kruger Dreamcatcher, http://www.krugercanoes.com/prod02.htm Is the closest I've seen. At least it has a dece...
