Knee Pad Foam Experiment
Years ago when I was outfitting a lot of canoes as a side business, I would cruise the local orthotic and prosthetic lab for scraps of a really dense closed cell foam called Pelite. This was before the foam was sold on the internet. It comes in a variety of thicknesses and densities(they do the duro...

Possible Dagger Cascade From NE Iowa to New England/Maine?
Potential Buyer of the Cascade listed in the Classified section wondering how to get this boat from NE Iowa to Maine. Waiting to hear back from him as to potential drop off spots further down the coast line maybe. Thinking he'll be glad to throw $75-100 at a willing courrier.... I'll check the site ...

Mad River solo canoes are pretty easy to trim. The center of the boat is always right where the E is in the Mad RivEr Canoe Logo on the sides. Clarification; the E in River , not Canoe. I put my hip bones behind that line a couple inches(take a 3' long straight piece of 1x2 pine and press it up to y...

Who Still Sells Those Gray Polycarbonate D Ring Plates?
I've been looking all over for them, both the 3/4" ones and the 1 1/2" ones. Mad River used to sell me them in bulk at like 50 at a time, but that outfit has changed since the Henry's ran the show.
Any links or help would be a big help
thanks

I don't want to speak for the conversion kayak/C-1 crowd, but my Outrage X and its predrecessor the Outrage, both had trapezoidal shaped minicell blocks to keep the knees in the curved part of the hull. The block was custom cut to whatever leg angle the customer wanted and usually 6" high. I'd bore ...

Gentlemen!! I vote for going retro on the vehicle..... As in VW Van retro. My canoe and kayak vehicles for nearly the past 30 years have been buses. Either the old 71 4 banger, the 79 orange two tone with the type 4 motor in it, or my current ride , a 90 Vanagon GL. If zero to 60 in an afternoon is ...
