scoop blade
I make a scoop blade paddle that has an ash and mahogany or cypress laminated curved handle; I call it a re-curve shaft. Excellent feel. Great power and no flutter. The curve adds strength and allows it to stow beautifully as a back-up w/o getting in the way. Still working on the weight thing (the p...

Kevlar Sunburst
Kevlar Sunburst Might be the only surving one (certainly has to be in best condition of any survivors); there were only 15 or so made. No fuzz--none. No heavy gouges--just scratches. One small fracture high above waterline and a couple of small repairs-none below waterline. I bought it to re-fit int...

outfitting removal
Any of the outfitting installed with common contact cement will (with time) lose its grip by simply soaking it in water. If you have a swimming pool just sink the boat and forget about it. If not, try supporting the bottom of the boat with sand or some other form fitting material and add water until...

Kevlar Sunburst
I finally got the Kevlar Sunburst I've had my eye on for several months and would like to get more info on its original layout. It is presently rigged w/ a solo pedistal but it has holes drilled into the gunnels as if there had been a seat mounted in the front and in the rear. If anyone out there CB...

Kevlar Sunburst
Would you be interested in a Kevlar Sunburst? It's been up-side down and unused in a garage for 10 or more years. There is a 2" x 1/2" fracture in the Kevlar that can easily be repaired w/o being obvious. Presently rigged for solo but was designed to be either. Length is roughly 14' 3"

shoulder pain
Try experimenting with a shorter paddle. It's quicker to get to your off-side and allows more "shock absorber" travel in your arm/shoulder therefore lessening the chance of shoulder injury from the unexpected rock or other bottom contact. nitro vinny

paddle length
I'm 5'10" somewhat dis-praportionatly long armed and used to use a 60" paddle. Stayed that way a while. Paddled with a short paddle advocate once. Tried his short paddle and wound up cutting my 60" paddle to 52". Sound nuts? Try it you'll like it. Lessens the chance of a shoulder dis-location also. ...

which boat
Been canoeing for 30 +- years and ww canoeing for 6 years. Started with an XL-13 went to a Nitro, then a Vertige, then then an Taureau, back to a Nitro and now have an Ocoee. Sounds like your journey and mine have been similar. The Ocoee was too advanced for me until I had paddled the Taureau. Dumpe...

hull repair
If you get on the Georgia Canoeing Association site to ask this question there is a person there who is a wealth of knowledge and could readily answer your question. Don't want to give his name for obvious reasons.
Hope this helps. Nitro Vinny
