Ivan,
Have you received the Perception saddle I sent to you a month or so ago?

Re: ideas for lightweight thwarts

ABS is difficult to come by, especially since it is no longer made. Lexan etc. is readily available. I like the idea of using Kevlar (or fiberglass mat or carbon fiber or a combination of the two) for deck plates.

Re: ideas for lightweight thwarts

Excellent idea. What tubing did you use? I'me guessing the tubing was removed after the epoxy set up?

Re: ideas for lightweight thwarts

If the only thing bothering you about the existing ash thwarts is the former bolt holes they can be filled with a good quality epoxy such as west systems epoxy. Aluminum will not flex properly and will bend beyond repair much more easily than ash. Carbon fiber is pricey and may prove to be difficult...

Re: Need help identifying which model of 1979 Perception can

Not sure what I'll do with this one. Thought it'd make a cool ceiling hanger for someones' cabin. I'll post pictures when it's finished.

Re: Need help identifying which model of 1979 Perception can

A good story and memories. The numerous small imperfections and thousands of pin holes that I've had to fill with a epoxy/microfiber fairing filler don't seem to meet the standards I had thought Perception canoes to be built to. Any thoughts on this?

Was the sticker somewhere on the order of 1 3/4" X 3"? There's a spot near the stern or bow, can't tell which at this point, where a sticker appears to have been.

Re: Zap Paddles

Trey is a big ol' (6'6" 250 or so lbs.) boy with a personality to match his size. He's an open boater who paddles a lot and posts on the GDI FB site. That might be where you know him from.

Just texted Trey. He'll be posting pictures in the near future. It'll be scratched up from the recent heavy use.

Re: Zap Paddles

While these are good looking paddles they aren't strikingly good looking. Sort of handsome in a rugged sort of way. Therefore pictures do them little justice. No web-site either. Sucks I know. Maybe I can get Try Cambern, a professional photographer, to photograph his and post them on here. I'd phot...
