Re: Whitewater Rating System - Is It OK As Is?
I like (in theory at least), the Addison scale, where you separate difficulty, consequence and exposure. Difficulty is rated either as per the AWA scale with an open scale (5.x), or on an open scale that adds numbers above 5. Consequence is rated 1-6. 1 being no consequence, 6 being fatal. Exposure ...

Tommy, Why do you bring a boat then. Just seems to be an unnecessary hassle in that case !

12 swims on one run of the UY !?!?! It may just be me, but if I swim this much on a river in one day, I don't consider myself really ready for it!

Re: Paddling and Engineering co-op
In Canada?
How is your French? If it's food,
Why not try Montreal or Quebec. Lots of good paddling there within relatively short drives.
Otherwise, look at Calgary or Vancouver. Good paddling near both cities, there are rivers running near Van all year round.

Bruce, don't know whether or not you are on crackbook, but a well known and always vocal open boater from the South East who does not have a festival named after him  recently stated in one of the groups there that the UY was no more than class 3. So Cheeks is merely quoting there  TGG!

Re: shoe goo...
I have used it before to replace a gasket when the only tube of Aquaseal I had at the time had hardened through. It worked well. The bond outlasted the gasket itself. The higher stiffness of shoe goo is less of an issue in the gasket replacement scenario, as the base fabric of any drygear does not s...

Re: Second thoughts on a Blast
Concerning the Probe 14, there is one for sale up here in Canada right now, Cheeks is staying here with us at Esprit in Davidson, Quebec and he has a Probe 14 that he is considering selling. Send him a PM if you are interested. I have never paddled the Probe 14, so I cannot comment on it, however co...

Re: What do you want to see in the future?
Here is my take on this: 1) adjustable saddle systems have been out there for years! They are called thigh straps, I believe  ! That's what I got now in every one of my boats, and they can be installed in just about any boat. 2) Materials: YES!! With the apparently impending end of RX, this is...

Re: Swim Left Dry Suit UPDATE
No built in booties for me please. Depending on boat type (Squirt boat on one end, raft on the other) as well as terrain (creeking in canyons to play paddling in developed areas), I wear vastly different footwear, anything from a thin lightweight bootie to something like a 5-10 boot. My experience i...

Never owned one myself, but my friends own one that I borrowed a few times for the Gull river slalom race. Awesome boat, dry, fast and maneuvrable. Works well with a less experienced partner, too.
