Re: Boating in Costa Rica
Sorry for confusion. The rental I'm referring to is acommodation rental, I'm not likely to go with an outfitter for a month of boating.Id likely take my own boat, possibly my c1,depending on transportation costs I'd take my Option. However,if it's cost prohibitive then a rental would be an option. Main...

Boating in Costa Rica
Any recommendations for villages or towns to find a rental in Costa Rica for a month to paddle?

Re: Big, Modern Playboats?
I've converted a Project x 64,large volume but,but feels smaller in the current. Stable, very forgiving, large cockpit, easy to convert with the fence rail system.I paddle it on class II +,pretty fun.On a wave, super,I mean super fast.I seem to be behind it a bit but I hope to catch up with this year.A...

Re: traveling with airbags...
I've never lost one.but had one begin leaking after the stem of the inflation tube was blowing in the wind and the leak started around the base...easy fix but...I now take them out on long hauls.Easy enough to do and not worth the risk of damage.

Thanks Aron, just what I'm after.More proof this is the best website for boaters.Question...is there a problem with some battery packs catching fire?If for some reason I don't get this one, what is the process for elimination of going down like a Zeppelin?

Re: traveling with airbags...
What Jakke said.I had the same issue with one leaking after a long trip.No biggie leaving them in when headed the fifteen minutes to my home river..but I always remove them when going the hour or two to all the other rivers.

WTB 48" Red Nylon Float Bags
As it says, preferably in Canada but not essential.Used but in good condition,a small repairable leak is ok but holds air for most of the day.

Re: A twelve-step program -- then RECOVERY !!
The Mission Boys don't not put pumps in them Einar, I think that's why they have to cut the lids off, to access the workings of their mulit-pump systems. Yukon, put Ray onto us through the local 'Paddle Net' forum - the Birkenhead has long been on my to-do list (and still the darn Chehalis now that...

Couldn't agree more.Like backcountry skiing,"I want that line, but if I die my wife will kill me!"However if I'm confident and feeling strong then I like to push myself. We all have a different sense of fun and danger,it can be a fine line.

Re: A twelve-step program -- then RECOVERY !!
Impressed to hear that you've run Skookumchuck, then you'll lead. Although I agree a skilled boater is able to perform in any boat that others might not have the ability to.However,I'd have to say that learning to paddle a shorter, friendlier boat makes running smaller volume rivers way easier..far l...
