All I can say is ... WOW! I won the Spark?!?! Thank you *so much* to Esquif for the donation and the race organizers for the opportunity. I promise that it will be very, very well used. Thank you!!! The first two days of racing have been a blast. I've never paddled with so many women in canoes! Cong...

Heading to Colorado July 2-10! Paddle before OC Nationals?
The Spark and the L'Edge are ready to go -- we are heading west tomorrow! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Open Canoe Nationals. We'll be around all week in Salida & would love to do some runs with other C boaters. If you are going to be there, give us a shout. This will be a fun week! :D h...

Pyranha Burn as a C1?
I need a C1 with a little more volume to use as a creek boat and for bigger water. I'm 5'7" and 150lb... currently paddling a Wavesport EZ converted to a C1 (47 gallons). When I paddled it as a kayak it handled like a river runner, but with the leverage I get on my knees, it handles like a more play...

Please check out my new website! (slalom canoe racing)
Hello everyone -- So what started as a basic update site for my family has grown into something more. I post updates of my races and training, and all the funny things that seem to happen along the way. I have lots of races coming up -- including the US Open and Team Trials / Pan Ams (!) -- so there...

Can I carry a canoe paddle on an airplane?
I am flying US Air to north carolina this weekend -- there is already a boat there that I can use. I need to bring my paddle though. I don't have anything to check beside my paddle (56" long). Does anyone know if I can carry this on? (Would homeland security consider it a weapon? Can you carry on a ...

just pulled up and read the “purpose” of USACK as listed on pages 1 & 2 of their bylaws here: http://www.usack.org/CMFiles/Docs/Bylaws.pdf It’s good stuff. Promote & grow the sport, etc. The empty links on the USACK site drive me crazy (Athlete News / Updates, Coach Education, Coach Clinics, Coach B...

the french link is interesting & fun to dig through... I wish I could read French. Davey's site is great and definitely fills a void. But lack of national structure is still evident... for example, there were 4 "US Cup" races this year that aren't identified on there. I was at the third & fourth (Co...

newbie perspective
I joined USACK in June (while registering for the US Cup races in Colorado). I began racing in March, and so I haven’t had much interaction with the slalom community / USACK in general. But perhaps the perspective of a newbie is valuable. Online registration was easy, and I got my member number inst...
