I paddle with the top of my feet flat on the hull and toes just touchuing the braces. I'd agree with checking the top edges of the pedestal and carving as necessary. I find for personal comfort the closer I get my feet to being under me the more comfortable I am. Hope this helps.

I seem to be paddling easier things now than the first few years I paddled. I'm 62 and am quite comfortable and happy on class 3 with an occasional 4. I tend to play a lot surfing, catching eddys etcbut am a little more careful than before about what i jump in. I paddle because it's on the water, it...

Offside
When I had a roll it was on my nonpaddling side. I also had a much stronger low brace on that side. This was due to shoulder problems on one side. I seldom had any problems switching hands but it would have been nice not to have to.

I normally paddle it during the week. It feels a little lower at week day flows. I felt it was more flow the days we got on it when the upper was running too. Not sure if the flume didn't carry a few cfs when it was operational.

Skid Plate
Adding one won't hurt the boats handling. If you want it to last you should also reinforce the stern on the inside. This will keep the stern from getting dented which could cause the skid plate to break. It should increase the life of the boat. Hope this helps.

Swim Off
GDI was well represented. Prbably 10 boats in 2 groups plus Louie and family in a raft. We were there too, 4 OC 1's. There seemed to be plenty of swimming but no keeping score.

tandem Encore
I think Louie had one set up for him and one of his kids. It would probably be fine with you and a child. 2 - 140 ponnd people would seriously overload the boat and it might be no fun at all.
