I'm working on my third one. I'm 5'6" and about your weight. I find it to do everything well. It's a good big water as well as technical boat. i find it stable as well.
If you get one and don't like it they sell fast too.

There are a lot of options, I would suggest paddling as many of them as you can. I paddle an Outrage and love it as an all around boat, it has plenty of rocker,ferrys and surfs well etc. Others feel the same about their current boats as well.

When Whitesel first started out he used Mohawks facilities/equipment to mold his boats. The Scamp was his first effort(?). I try to keep them tight which means You may see me beside the road adjusting as well. I also check the bottom of the thwarts/gunnells for screw ends. I wrap them with duct tape.
