Jim,
Any chance I can try your Acrobat at the Powerhouse on Sunday? I have a Wheelboy and a Groove if you want to try either or both of those out.
I'll shoot you a PM as well.

Kevlar may not be best choice
Kevlar's has high resistance to abrasion. In the context of mending a crack in a paddle, this can be interpreted as 'impossible to sand or grind'. When sandpaper touches kevlar, a furry head sticks out of whatever resin has been used to bond it. The only way to deal with this is to bury the kevlar i...

Acrobat may be still for sale
If any of you are interested, my schedule has kept me from arranging a time to meet Jim and buy his Acrobat. If he has not sold it to someone else, I imagine that it's still for sale.
Jim sent me some pic's, and the boat looks to be in great shape.

PTCC member
Pat, I am a member of the Seattle based Paddle Trails Canoe Club - a great group of paddlers in my experience. I lurk this forum now and don't post 'cuz I am only on the river 2-3 times in the past year or more. But my day is coming to start paddling again regularly, so maybe we'll see you on the ri...

If the old foam pedestal is in good shape where it contacts the hull, and the bond is still strong, you might save yourself some work by not cutting the old foam completely out. A careful cut with a small saw, or with the wire saw suggested by Mike, could be made which would leave a low slab of foam...

The location of the course that I am thinking of is about a mile before the take out for the Middle Middle run described here: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/rivers/id/2220 It is on the section of the river above the put in for the 'Clu...

MF Snoqualmie
Hi Tom, Do you know what stretch of the MF Snoqualmie that you are most interested in? There are three runs on the river, a class II followed by a class III stretch (the 'Middle Middle'), and a lower stretch often called the 'club stretch' - this last run is on the easy end of class II. I imagine th...

All's good in my WB.
We've had temp's down into the teens here lately - record setting lows for the Pacific NW - but no change to the minicell in my WB.
PS: Sorry to hear of all the boat/shed madness you have been having recently. Sounds like a pain in the butt!

Hi Jan, I am 3.5 hours south of the border. You can use my WB anytime. If you want to try to set something up, let me know. I will facilitate shipping a new boat for you if you want, as well. I have a paddling friend in Bellingham (30 min south of the border.) Let me know if you want to work somethi...

That's a trot from WA
Bill,
Thanks for the heads up. The suggested run sounds good (http://www.americanwhitewater.org/rivers/id/4068). My first reaction is to say it's unlikely I can make the drive in March, but I will ponder it...

Paddling tales?
So... was there any paddling done over the holiday? Out here in the cool (not usually cold - though it may snow a bit tonight...) Pacific Northwest, rivers are comin' on and the winter season is looking good. After a long time spent making money instead of paddling, I made it back to the river over ...

OC rolling clip available
Hey all, I rooted around my hard drive and came up with a movie clip that I snatched from somewhere in cyberland. The OC roll shown in the clip has all of the necessary components of a successful roll set up. Whatever position the paddler gets into originally, moving to the position shown in the cli...

48 ish gallons... way more than my Groove, less than the WB, long waterline... slicey ends: sounds like another boat I have to have.
Thanks for the info, Martin. Can you (ar anyone) compare the Sith to a Viper (the c variety, not the oc)? Not just stat's, but feedback on any actual experience?
