Canoe for the Grand Canyon

Hello Cboats friends, please help a friend of mine. He has a place on a Grand Canyon trip end of October 2014 and needs a suitable canoe to borrow or rent. The outfitter has offered him an Ovation but I can't see this being an ideal canoe for the trip. I am thinking Outrage, Vertige, XL13, Rival. Ma...

Re: The Most Insanely Easy To Roll Canoe Ever Created

I agree, the L'Edge is an easy canoe to roll, loads of people I know also say this. Then why oh why is it SO hard to hand roll? The SpanishFly is also an easy roll and is also one of the easiest canoes to hand roll, why hasn't this also transferred with the L'Edge? Just a thought for the morning Pad...

Re: Africa Armada

Sweet that a few people are excited about this idea! I think I will let this run until New Year a then start to make a real plan with dates and flights.

Re: Africa Armada

Hey Adam, Really I don't know anybody who has been with a canoe, loads of C1s, but no open boats. Even so if you know of somebody it would be awesome to speak with them and find out what they learnt and pick up any tips So far we are on 3 canoeists who have committed, maybe more brave warriors will ...

Africa Armada

Hey Cboats, Here is an idea that I have had bouncing around in my head for a while and it has now formed itself into a kinda plan... I have been thinking about about a trip to the Zambezi for a while, to the best of my knowledge nobody has been open boating on the Zam and I think it would be blast. ...

Re: Big Waterfall Running with critical thinking

This is an interesting post to read, I have run a fair few "big" drops in a canoe and have never thought about this cutting plugs out ting, I have luckily never hurt myself enough to warrant thinking about this. I then started to wonder why I haven't hurt myself that much, and reading though the tex...

Re: L'edge L'ime L'imited

WOW, that looks awesome! A Lime L'Edge has just shot to the top of my Christmas list.

Well done Jacques, Craig and Esquif for making a cool ting even cooler.

Are there plans to send any to Europe or are they all booked for your side of the pond?

Paddle safe,

James

Glad to read you guys are stoked with the idea, the thinking process started ages ago and it was only after hanging out with Jacques at KanuMesse in Germany did I get off my arse and make it happen. A good way to get a bit of plastic for making the bag holster is to contact Esquif, they have loads o...

@Peter K, yep no decks and no gunwales. I like having an "open" open canoe and the difference in dryness is so little compared with the aesthetic improvement. The whole boat is for sure rigid enough without the wood and I don't have much time for caring for my wooden gunwales, I'd rather go paddling...

L'Edge luggage

I dunno about y'all but I have a hades of time trying to transport stuff in/on my L'Edge, or any other kind of small ww canoe. Emergency kit is fine, just stow under an airbag, blow it up and hopefully you will never need it. Things like a camera are a nightmare, I want to be able to access and stas...

c'mmom Craig, Everybody knows that a SpanishFly is the best OC1 fishing boat out there. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HU6CptvsveQ/TE_-zJ5j4KI/AAAAAAAAA2U/7mH6QOzaU68/s320/oc1fishing.JPG When I see a photo of you in your CUFishingFly with a fish then I might believe you, but until then... OC1 is a joke, why is it a joke? because people laugh, most of all the people kneeing in the boats doing it, that makes OC1 great. It is definitely not the most efficient way of performing freestyle manoeuvres and might even have less competitors than junior ladies BUT for those who take part it is ...

My vote is for staying upright first. Tuck if you mess-up. Tucking is like diving, not tucking is like belly flopping, if you don't tuck you land face first from how ever many metres, it IS going to hurt. Also landing upright in the boat increases your resistance when you land, you are less likely ...

Boofing and Plugging

Fast forward to the plugging bit,

I know I posted this just the other day in another thread, but after that comment Tommy you need to check out THE best resurfacing ever flimed.
