Decals of Hawaii sells cool "paddle man" stickers - that's what I have on my boat - those are copied from ancient petroglyphs on the Big Island. I've sent emails to esquif regarding decals - they never responded. You can get those little "esquif.com" stickers easily, or the "aero-dramatic" red swoos...

You spend $1,400 on a boat from the factory it should be "wright", the saddle shouldn't be "tweaked" to one side nor should the painter pop out of the deck when you flip and you can't roll but are forced to swim, and you grab hold of the painter and realize that the factory builder didn't tie a knot...

Here's the link to the final product. I apologize for the lateness in closing out my post but I don't own a digital camera. http://picasaweb.google.com/kirkpeterdietz/DeckedLEdgeConversion# Once I opened it up, I discovered the saddle was installed off center quite a bit in the aft section. I don't ...

Lewis, That looks like a really nice job. In hindsight, was 150- worth all the work and aggravation??? Would you do it again?? Thanks for the compliment on the boat. It was an involved process but quite simple in method. Four hands would have made things a whole lot easier than my two. It's really ...

You can do this to decked one..... $50 in milled ash, $100 for a palm router, clamps, and a lot of patience. http://picasaweb.google.com/kirkpeterdietz/DeckedLEdgeConversion#5534294869358867938 http://picasaweb.google.com/kirkpeterdietz/DeckedLEdgeConversion#5534294881625147666 http://picasaweb.goog...

Preference in Floatation
Now that my L'Edge is open I find myself realizing that of my 4 bags in household stock, one leaks and two are not only monster in size but ancient (cannibalized from a Dagger Impulse). The Ledge has got a lot of volume, I'm wondering what bags out there on the market have the most volume to fill it...

You'll need four strips of White ash milled at 3/4" x 3/4" x 10'; one strip of ash milled at 1.5" x 1" x 10' for the thwarts. After you get the gunwales lined up you'll know how much to trim from the 10', it's your preference. I'm thinking of adding two additional thwarts for strength / stiffness.; ...

A plywood template for the end plates made out of scrap, a palm router for $100, $40 for milled white ash gunwales from Colonial Hardwoods, some patience, and I now have an full-on OPEN L'Edge ----- PRICELESS. I'll share photos this weekend. Routers go through rotomolded plastic like a hot knife thr...

Craig, thanks for the graphic - I appreciate it. I'm going to install the gunwales directly underneath that top lip of the deck. What's the plastic, a 3/16 inch thick? If you can post those photos on this site, or email them to me, that would be great. Unfortunately my Lady does'nt let me have faceb...

Decked L'Edge Conversion
I'm looking to go topless with my L'Edge, love the hull but hate the deck. If anyone can supply some gunnel dimensions on their factory model I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, does anyone have any experience cutting into rotomolded plastic? The way I see it, if I install ash gunnels first I can then ...

So what's the approach like to the second drop of Lost Paddle? Is that a big Mick Jagger tongue I see (online) to the right of that wave? Right or left?

Esquif Detonator: Bulkhead outfitting conversion
Greetings, I've been paddling a detonator, a great hull, for two years and I'm looking to switch to bulkhead outfitting - the straps loosen up far too quickly with water in the boat and therefore the boat doesn't feel solid in must move situations. Any good aftermarket saddles out there for this con...
