I don't see how ABS slurry is overkill. I have some mixed up in a mason jar, and using a cheap brush, paint it on easier than spraying Krylon. As far as Krylon, I've found the Red clogs easily, which is why all my boats are turning green...with black racing stripes  http://good-times.webshots....

my sons
my sons first OC. It was like it had training wheels. He could get side surfing and stay dry while the rest of us had issues. We ended up converting to tandem, and 420 pounds of us have a fun time in the boat. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2532257870094366337RkjwOF http://good-times.webshots....

for small jobs with corners I like using the plastic lid from coffee cans. I cut it similar to the bondo spreader and find its flexibility works well.

go Millbrook
hey Ed, I'm supporting the Kaz bandwagon, especially as you plan on keeping the Nitro for the lumpier stuff. I know you've seen me in the Encore, fun boat; but when I can I love paddling my "freebie thanks to Paul Edwards" Millbrook Flashback. It's lighter than most kayaks, and is the first boat I e...

don't worry
don't worry about what other folks are driving and you'll have a lot of partners. I'm down here in Ct., don't think I can sell any of my boats though. There's a real busy group on NPMB, I know most of them, good people for the most part, mostly yakkers but paddling a lot in Mass/Ct..I paddle local t...

kids
kids are amazing. I paddled tandem with my son Aaron from when he was 5. He started paddling solo at 11. I used to get in trouble because I'd be watching out for him. Aaron would be fine...ignoring the old man, and watching you-tube videos made him a beautiful paddler. 'Course his first boat had tra...

g flex
did a g-flex and glass repair on th efront of my encore. so far it's working well, hit a couple rocks and so far so good. Nice flexible resin after curing, I'll save the rest for my millbrook and use my epiglass on the sailboat. ABS slurry is good for coverage, but not good for structural. http://go...

mattm, the vinyl layer contributes almost nothing to hull strength. It is there as an ablation layer, to wear away with use; and to protect the ABS structural layer from UV. Thicker vinyl means more to wear away, but it also means more weight. It's like using thicker earplugs so you don't hear Smer...

funny
That storage is pretty handy. After a particularly raucous after work run one day I was wondering why my bilge pump was running, when i realized I didn't have a bilge pump...wondering what the buzzing was...well, it turned out my cell phone got set to vibrate or shorted out and went spastic or somet...

I'd take
I'd take a Millbrook Coho. Maybe cl.3 capable, which is as hard as I need to go. I'd set it up primarily for poling, as my knees have seen better days, and I'm enjoying the challenge of ascending rapids more than going down them lately. Getting the feeling the Coho paddles a bit better than the Souh...

a bit different
I've been mountain biking more, paddling less lately, and though I've never known anyone...wait a minute, let me rephrase that; though I've never befriended anyone who seems of a litigious nature, realize there idjits like this on the river and in the woods. Ditzy broad hits a freaking permanent gat...
