Hi! This is Natalie. I also paddle outrigger canoes and whitewater. Where are you located in the Northeast? I'm near Pittsburgh. There are also some OC paddlers in the Philly area as well as Different parts of New York, Boston area and New Jersey/NY City.

Mitchell Blades is run by the nephew of David and Peggy Mitchell founder of Mitchell Paddles. I would guess that they might be pretty decent since the nephew worked over here for his uncle at one point. I have never seen any in the US though. It would be nice to try one out.

Yes the clinic portion will be useful for you as well. We generally split into a few groups for the clinic and one of them is always for open boats or any other c-boat.

The Riversport Slalom and Clinic will be held on August 18-19, 2012. This is the same weekend as the Ohiopyle Falls Race so get 2 events in one weekend! You forgot to mention that my name also appeared in the OC2Mixed class! If I'm gonna drive 8+ hrs to a race I have to get my $$$ worth so I occasionally race K1W.
