tough decision, isn't it

[quote="TommyC1"]So what are the minimum health requirements to paddle? Are they different from flatwater to class V? The guy had a heart condition. Best anyone could tell it was under control. He shouldn't paddle whitewater? Guess I can't agree. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic. That means that my...

COMMERCIAL OUTFITS SHOULD FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE I AGREE

[quote="BF14"]hey guys, i agree with both of the points. if a guy came up to me and said that he blacked out repeatedly and it could happen at any time and wanted to paddle with me i would definately steer my boat elsewhere...... however my point i guess was more geared towards the commercial side o...

just a concerned boater, that's all

Hi again. I just wanted to clarify that I was NOT judging the boater for the first time down the river, after he was cleared medically. He had no idea he'd have this problem, and the doctor told him he'd be OK. So I have no issue there. What I'm concerned about now is going forward. The implant will...

Atom's edges are just fine

I made my previous comment before I'd paddled an Atom. Now I own one. I started in WW kayak, then progressed to the Atom (return from the dark side!). In one summer I was running class II rapids and even a couple of threes. The edges on teh boat are NOT a problem at all. The Atom is exactly what I t...

I am pretty concerned about what I read here

[quote]Joel is currently in at home and has made a 100% recovery.... he is currently planning his next paddling adventure. Joel had previously been diagnosed with a heart condition called hypertrophic cardio myopathy... which in short means "an enlarged heart". This is the same condition that you he...

I'm up for a run with C-boaters!

oopsiflipped: I'm on the Clear Creek town run often, I'd like to meet you. If you were up to paddling the Idaho Springs section (class III) I might be willing to step the boating up a notch--I am "new" to C1, usually paddle a kayak on anything harder than class II, but I'm getting more confident, an...

thanks for the tips

I picked up a used heat gun today to try to work on the inside part of the pedestal, I'll let you know how that goes. I'll try to move my knees out farther. The guy I talked to also told me to try to get plastic cutting boards and melt them with the heat gun, then attack them near the hips and glue ...

Need help w/ outfitting an Atom

I have a Dagger Atom that I really like, but the outfitting is killing me. I'm 5'9", 186 lbs. I have not had the boat long so I need to figure out what can be done to improve the outfitting. I've got a foam block about 4" to sit on (on top of the plastic pedestal), thigh straps, and a couple of mold...

Thanks C-Boats Net for introducing me to a great group!

Hey gang! We had a fantastic trip to the Arkansas (CO) this weekend. The temps were awesome, sunny and wonderful, not too crowded, and of course the C-Boats group was excellent. I'm so glad I hooked up with this group! I'd like to thank Al J, Rob, John, Bonnie, and everyone else on the trip to the A...

New to C1, want to hook up with other denver boaters

After years in a kayak, I bought my first C1. I am looking to meet up with some other C1ers or OC boaters who will be interested in a local easy run until I get the feel of the boat. I've played a little on the Boulder Creek, but I need to work on my combat roll and have a partner to run something e...

Check out this killer C2!

I thought this really looked cool. If I could get my wife to paddle whitewater with me i'd buy it. If your dad is only looking for a C1, it won'twork. BUt it looks like a great c2 for tripping. The Advert says "Old Town Canoe C2", doesn't give a design name. http://www.oregonriversports.com/retail.h...

Oh.... :-?

So, is there NO redemption in going C1?

But Master Yoda told me...oh, nevermind.

found a good link

This link has good lighting and is from underwater, although I'd like to see the roll a little slower. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W38fWlJ3jw8 This is also a pretty good link, though you only see the roll from above, but it does show both onside and offside roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adH...

Comin' back from the 'dark side', request assistance w c1

Hey howdy hey! I am the proud new owner of my first c1 (Dagger Atom, arrives tomorrow, I cannot WAIT to get out on a river. :D I can't express how excited and happy I am. I started paddling in open canoes, when I went to white water I bought an Dagger Legend and my wife and I paddled some easy stuff...
