Exclusive Practice Water at the Nationals
Your race committee has been working overtime to get additional "Exclusive Practice" water time for the race. We have secured additional sponsors like Subaru and several others, like CBoats.net, to help defray some of the costs. These sponsors participation have allowed us to add more practice hours...

Thanks Carol, You guys must be really tired. I'm leaving in a few minutes for the Dogs Days Slalom in Bellefonte, PA. I'm meeting Natalie there and we'll work on the results there. If I get internet there or at ASCI, our next stop, I'll get the results on the web as soon as possible. Thanks again fo...

Phil, We're in the process of getting the results put up on the OCS web site. First pass was missing the non counting runs and was not converted to all seconds, but that's being fixed. It's a big job for the race organizers who are all tired out from running a great race. Our new chairman, Natalie T...

Bidding for the Nationals
The issues for any venue bidding for the ACA Open Canoe Slalom Nationals, (actually the ACA Open Canoe Slalom Nationals & North American Championships), seem to be: 1- The number of Race Days and the number of Practice Days. 2- The great number of Classes. 3- Finding a suitable place to hold the Dow...

Well I looked at the Nationals results for 2007 & 2006 and found out two things. First 95% of the participants in the combined classes were slalom specialists! The balance I just didn't recognize. As far as merging the RAC & REC classes, I looked at OC-1 Open (RAC & REC), OC-1 Masters (RAC & REC), O...

Nationals Discussion
The original purpose of this thread was to stimulate a discussion that would start on-line and continue at Minden about future Nationals sites and some of the issues with the length of the event. Almost everyone agrees that there are too many classes. The big problem is which classes to eliminate. H...

Number of days for the Nationals
Let's see, the closed boat Nationals at ASCI last year had five days of practice and one day of racing, and think it'll be the same this year. The American Open will probably have five days of practice and two days of racing this year. All of those days had about 6 hours dedicated to the race, (raft...

2009 ACA Open Boat Slalom Nationals at ASCI?
I was wondering if there's any intrest in having the 2009 ACA Open Boat Slalom Nationals at ASCI. This year the event is in Minden, ON, Canada on the Gull River, Aug 1-3. When I talked to Matt Taylor I found out that July and August are probably out but June or September might be possible. Thoughts....
