Yeah, I think they wear pretty quick. Quicker than many others. Again, my fav is the Echo Creek Stick and the Magnum. But that does not help you much ;)

kiss the bag and start putting pressure on your blade when you sweep out into your roll. It's all about really clean roll and being aware about where you are under water and when to use what pressure on your blade. Sometimes a little extra stroke is helpful to flip the boat onto your onside. Once yo...

yeah, I agree. I see lots people with poly ropes which is only good for bagging. What really hurts you is the stretch, not the break strength. I suggest you get a 3/8 rope for rescue and have the other one on you for bagging all the time. Getting real thin prussiks, make sure they cannot melt when t...

Pat, I prefer the combo of a small Spectrx rope on me all the time (I use the NW belt) and a rescue rope of Spectrx. Thin ropes can certainly work, but you have to know how and practice. As an alternative to the prussik you can also use a klemheist, than works with slings. Using slings, it is import...

Hey Pat,

sorry, I can't make it. I am waiting for another shoulder surgery...

It's all about backcountry skiing for now ;-)

Hope to be back in the boat next year. :(

Raff, well, I don't really remember. I know I have the stern bag that came from Bell. Then a longer (prolly 60 inch) for the bow bag. The boat rolls very dry. I often roll it in an eddy to get rid of most water when I can't get out otherwise on busy canyony sections. I also increased the length of t...

I have hippads and foam in the sides. It rolls much dryer that way. I also have oversized bags in it. To put foam in, trace the shape of the hull in cardboard, then cut that shape from minicell foam. Glue several stripes of those together and fit it all along the cockpit sides. After that, you can a...

hey beereddy (I like the name),

I like the Vertige X quite a bit. It is a great. forgiving tandem. Really easy to paddle. Not as much performance as the Blast but awesome boat.

Caption is a nice boat too. Might be able to find one cheap. The Vertige X is more forgiving.

Hey, boat over boat on continuous grade 3 is not a good idea at all. I usually just do the standard: Get the paddler out of the water. I paddle over, get them to hold on to the boat and make them help by swimming. Once that is done, chase the boat. Once i get to boat, I turn it upright, clip it with...

Re: Habitat 80 on the water

I think that most current model boats are good designs. Its the paddler that developes a style that needs to be fit. This is why it is so important to demo boats when possible. Hey Bernie, couldn't agree more. Every recent creeker I have tried was a good boat. The boat needs to fit style and one ju...

yeah, we had some huge floods here. My shoulder is f*&R#$ though, so I am not paddling these days. Has been 4 month now, hopefully I can catch the spring season. Couple friends just paddled the Nanaimo at 500 cms. It's a fun river at those flows. Quite big with some aweseome play waves and no eddies...
