Re: Outfitting... I need a beer.

I just bought a boat that runs two Attwood 1250's off a single laptop battery. The biggest issue as was explained to me is keeping the battery dry, and an Otter case plus a good dose of McGuyver (sp?) seems to work. I took it out on S9 of the FB at 3K and had no issues with juice. Next week is the N...

Probe 11 vs. Outrage X

First, I really appreciate the advice on my last thred about budget winterwear for paddling. Good stuff. I've been paddling a Probe 11 for two seasons and I really like it. Its handling and maneuverability are awesome. But as I move from running rivers to playing rivers, I'm noticing that when I'm d...

Hey Z,

Small world/big room, huh.

That's good info about the separates. I just can't eat 5 bills right now, but man I've got the fever.

We expect to see you this fall for a wet weekend. I'm going solo in the Disco 169 Saturday.

Thanks for all the responses. If I were half of me, STP has some great deals on dry clothing. Oh well. Any other good outlet-style websites with paddling gear? I checked EMS, REI, STP, and BCO. I'm in WNC, and I hope to paddle the Watagua, the Elk, and Wilsons above the gorge this winter. Maybe I ne...

Most Economical Winter Paddling Clothing?

What's the cheapest way to be safe (not hypothermic) paddling an OC-1 year-round? I want to paddle this winter in WNC but the ad for a USED drysuit at just under $500 is discouraging. I have a 5mil full wetsuit from my surfing days but I've heard that it's a poor choice because of wrinkles and once ...

fFound this really well done trip report:

Looks a little tame for me, dang it. I was hoping for some good summer and fall whitewater.

Here's hoping for an active tropic season.

Catawba River under Lake James?

I'm interested in information about the Catawba River where it comes out of Lake James at the Linville Dam Powerhouse--specificaly the run from SR1223 to SR1147. Boatingbeta.com shows weekend releases through the end of October, but I remember some discussion about dam work that was going to affect ...
