Pump altenative

Scott

Looks interesting, but since there are no flow rates or other technical information posted can you post some video of yours in action. What color goes with yellow Mohawk hull?

The Ledges

There is a play spot on the French Broad near Asheville called the ledges. Check out FB section 6 on the AW river database for NC.

molded pedesal

I paddled the boat today and that is some hard plastic - I've got to add some foam. I was also sliding backward and forward on the saddle and some foam ought to help that. Didn't get an idea of how dry the pedestal was. It does seem to be a bit heavy.

Perception saddle

I've got a spare minicell saddle if the molded one is too bad. The plastic one probably does weigh a chunk. I'm going to paddle the boat today, so I will get some posterior to brain feedback.

Perception molded pedestal

I just picked up an OC1 with a Perception molded pedestal. The boat had never been outfitted. I installed bow and stern bag cages, put in foam for my knees, and added footpegs, but I'm not sure about the pedestal. Should I foam it out like a bulkhead? The storage compartment seems like a cool thing ...

I have an 800 GPH Attwood in my Howler. It fits in a cutout at the back of the pedestal. I have a small drybox strapped to the front of the pedestal that holds the switch and the rechargable NiMH batteries. I thread the flex hose through the bag cage cords and the whole rig is removable in a couple ...

Your butt is on a foam block and you have additional support and shock absorption from your knees, so I'd say no.

Canoe guru on the Chattooga

It was a pleasure to paddle Chattooga 3.5 and 4 with you on Thursday and Friday. Great water level on one of the best WW rivers in the southeast.

The canoeguru offering instruction and fun on Chattooga

Eli responded to my e-mail. He said he'd be camped at Woodall from the 16th. They're going to have trips on section 2 through section 4 based on skills of the paddlers present.

Floatation

I have a rechargeable Coleman mattress pump from WallyWorld and it works very well for inflating the 60" bags in my Howler. I leave them inflated most of the time and top them off with lung power when needed. As someone else commented, be careful not to leave too much air in if it is going to warm u...

Bilge pump and battery mounting

I mounted the pump in my MR Howler in a cavity I cut at the rear of the the pedestal. The battery (5000 mA-Hr NiMH) is at the front of the pedestal in a small dry box I got at Wally World for about $6.00. I drilled holes for a water tight cable clamp and a waterproof switch and then used Aquaseal. T...

Howler

David:

Thanks for your nice comments on my Howler. It was great to see someone with more skill than I have paddle it. I think I'm a ways from performing the standing surf trick.

I've got the original deck plates and they are in good shape. I'd only need the end caps I replaced the ash gunwales with vinyl. I'm going to use ash gunwales, so I'm good with what I have.

The fore/aft trim was going to be my next question. The rocker on this beast is very asymmetrical. If you can get that measurement it would be great.
