Aha, I knew you weren't going to stick with one boat. Since I don't have a garage, I'm building a shed for my boats. 7x20, two bays. Left bay (3'-6" x 20') is open with cantilever supports for 4 canoes. Right bay (3'-6" x 20') is enclosed as big closet/cabinets for paddling gear as well as construct...

This has been a really great thread, informative to those of us who aren't yet at the level of many of the regular contributors (sometimes these threads can be a bit inaccessible). Lots of good information on how to take that next step, whatever it may be. Too bad about the ring, Fritz. Maybe you ca...

I'm a big fan of buying the used boat that you find. I spent a while looking for a caption or Vertige X, having paddled neither - and ended up buying an ME because one came up for sale cheap in my area. And we're having a blast with it. May not be perfect (a bit wet, though we're still learning its ...

Thoughts on --MY-- Mad River ME

We picked up our 'new to us' ME this weekend (see my previous post: http://www.cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?t=7960532 ), and my wife and I promptly got it out on the water. Here are a few notes for those interested; I don't have many pics, and I haven't learned how to post them yet. ME is in quit...

Thanks for the links - I pick up my 'new' ME tomorrow (my thanks to you guys for convincing me to go for it), and I'm curious to see how the thwart lengths compare. As for 'Maximum Exposure' - is there a comparable naked paddling day to the AT's nude hiking day? That'd be a good inaguration for a ne...

Thanks - I have posted there as well, and am trying to guage what kind of response I get from both boards. To date, I've only ever paddled with friends and friends of friends, but I'm trying to expand my paddling community and am testing out the best way to do so.

Connecticut (Farmington, Housatonic, etc) paddling Sunday?

My wife and I are going to be in Connecticut this weekend (niece's 5th birthday), and not being ones to to pass up a on good opportunity, we're bringing the canoe along. If the water levels hold, we're hoping to paddle on Sunday - perhaps a section of the Farmington (Riverton to Satan's kingdom or C...

And how did that modified Dagger Ocoee work out on it's inaugural weekend? I know you've been looking for the right fit... Boat of your dreams, or still on the lookout?

thanks for the advice

And lots of it, on a Sunday evening. One of the few things I had read was that the ME was fairly wet as a tandem, so it's nice to hear that isn't the over-riding concern. Given that I grew up paddling in the 80s, and haven't done enough since, I like the idea of the throwback, so long as it's a soli...

Thoughts on the Mad River ME?

I'm thinking of buying a used Mad River ME, and I'm not finding a whole lot of feedback on its tandem whitewater performance. Had my eye out for a Caption and found a good deal on an ME instead. Our intent is to paddle tandem ww, focusing on class II-III, smaller rivers and streams, a bit sportier t...

Hey, what do you know. The only two people I know on this forum, and here they are in the same thread. Don Beyer, meet Fritz (kabuki_blaze). Good friend of mine and it looks like he's paddling canoes now. Fritz, meet Don. He's a pretty good engineer and a darn good paddler. If you guys end up on the...
