AFAIK they can get just about anything that you need. I know folks that have bought the standards like gunnels and caps.

Where are you located? In VA we have a great outfitter that can usually get anything. Appomattox River outfitters in Farmville, VA, but I suppose if you were in VA you would already know about them :-? . They do have a website and ship though.

That is a nuts itinerary :D I wish I had that kind of time. You might want to look at a Nova Craft SuperNova solo. They can carry a ton of weight and do well enough in water up to III (I have had mine in IV). They make a Kevlar version that cuts weight. I trip in mine as much as possible. Just my .0...

Thanks for the tips, the bubble level is a good one! I only ask about the rec boat because I have one in the yard that I have not paddled for years.

So after looking into this, I will expand this thread a bit. How hard are these conversions to get right? Is there any value in converting a rec boat (otter, etc) as a skill builder and then working to a ww kayak convo?

Northwater has a bunch of styles of thigh straps, and they are first class guys as well. I used their stuff to rig my boat and ran short of materials. I spoke to one of the guys and they got me the missing stuff overnight from Canada. They earned a customer for life and a zealot to boot. Really high...

I paddled with a guy that had one this weekend and it looked like an interesting boat. I cannot find much about it online, other than it was made in the early 90's for about 4 years and that most people call it bomb proof. Any insights?

Overall I liked the format, but the whole thing felt a little heavy. The page turns were a bit cumbersome until the whole thing loaded and it was not clear when it had totally loaded. On the positive side the idea works wonderfully once loaded and the red blinking ads are a good touch, lets me know ...

Old Town H2 Pro?

There is one on our local craigslist for $300 outfitted. That seems a bit high to me but I was looking for opinions. If it is high, what would be a a fair offer be?

Good first timers hull

I thought I would ask as I cannot seem to find anything on a standard google search.

What is a good kayak hull for a first time C1 conversion? Think older boat that I could pickup on craigslist.... River runner would be my first choice.

Thanks for all the responses. I am pretty much open to all types of paddling, but I have never really been into play boating much. I like to surf and run rivers. My main reason for the interest in the Esquif is the size and weight of the boat. That is really my only complaint of my Super Nova (that ...

Esquif Taureau question

First let me say that I am glad that Neal recommended this site to me. I am just sorry it took so long to sign up. I currently paddle a Nova Craft SuperNova and really enjoy the boat on the river but hate it when the day is over. It is a pig to carry around. To make a long story short, I want a smal...
