Creeking in glass (OC-1)?

Hi everyone, I have been dreaming for several years of owning a glass Millbrook Ignitor and taking it off all my favorite boofs on the Upper Yough every weekend. I LOVE that boat, but it feels so flexible that I am afraid I would destroy it very quickly. So does anyone have any experience running ri...

Adam, thanks for all you and the other admins do. And thanks for keeping things a little looser, as you alluded to. There have been long stretches during the last few years when I barely read the forum because all that's being discussed is boat repair, and that has been anything but the case lately!...

"I have probably around 20 UY runs this season so far. . ."

Lengthy, still not sure if I know who you are, but I have a feeling. Do you paddle a red boat? Say hi next time if you see a C-1er in a blue Burn. Maybe I'll join you guys for an open boat run one of these days too.

Anybody paddling the UY on this weekend? Was thinking of hitting it Friday and Saturday.

Speaking of open boats on the Upper Yough, any of you guys responsible for this in a past life? Looks like Jeff Snyder was pulling this thing out back on July 6th. http://www.photostockplus.com/home.php?user_id=38218&tmpl=54&event=271713&action=viewphoto&photo_id=19031814&album_id=300019&pcount=45 h...

Yes, the Upper Blackwater is the class V run you're thinking of. It's a classic. The Lower Blackwater is good too (class IV). The high-water alternative is the North Fork of the Blackwater (class V), which is also nearby. It's more slides, while the Upper B is boulders. Been lucky enough to paddle t...

Hey Lengthy, No, you're right -- I did skip the Upper Yough on Saturday. Stuff was up, so we went to the Upper Blackwater instead. We got two runs in, got to show a few first-timers down, and I paddled with another cboater (Seth Chapelle). It was awesome! I am planning to hit the Upper Yough on Frid...

Great to see so many Cboaters out there yesterday! I haven't seen that many at a non-Armada event in a long time. Paddled on Saturday with Seth as well, so it was a cboat weekend.

I'll be there Saturday night with a bunch of kayakers (God, I hope they don't bring a copy of that rag, "American Kayaker" . . . ) Paddling the Upper Yough Saturday, Lower on Sunday.

"AIN'T NUTHIN LIKE TAKIN A SAFETY BREAK WITH FIVE OR SIX OF YOU BUDDIES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN TWO OR THREE OF YOU BUDDIES come swimmin by."

Okay, I'm going to need some time to digest that one!

I'm clearly paddling with the wrong people! :D

See y'all at the Upper Yough this weekend,

Thanks so much for posting that video! Very, very entertaining. I almost lost it when that canoe pitoned the canoe that was in the hole and came to a dead stop.

Will, don't let those yakers get you down. That's such a bummer people would drive through the fence AND steal gear. Who does that?

Gabe, glad you enjoyed the Green. I'm hoping to get down there myself in early August. Will, are you going to be around next month?

Great headcam footage. I'd seen that somewhere else, too. I always thought the label of "extreme" sounded funny. Like "ultimate" frisbee. Nobody's called a "moderate" kayaker, after all. The funniest exploitation of that was in the movie Paddlequest when they show the guy flying them into the river ...

Craig, well done. Commendable work. Long term, major projects -- seen through to the end -- offer rare consolations.

I look forward to trying it out sometime!

I knew Ed a little bit. A few months back we paddled the Blackwater together. He told me about his plans to boat as much as possible before heading to medical school in the "flatlands" next fall. He was also engaged to be married. One of those guys you meet and think, "My parents would much rather I...
