Ouch. But I'm sure you ain't the first! I watched those other vids on the page with Dooley's too. I like the look of the lower water level on the Raven's Fork better than the higher one. I still don't know what some of those rapids are called, but I definitely recognize the cave one. I think my drea...

My hat's off to you, Dooley. God, that one rapid shot from above (Mortal Kombat, I think) is huge. I can only imagine in person what it looks like. That 20-footer with the kicker at the bottom looks pretty fun. What's that one called? Looked like a pretty high level, too. Higher than other videos I'...

Here's another terminology one for all of you Weldwood fans out there: Apparently the words flammable and inflammable mean the same thing! Inflammable actually means "combustible." Something that can be inflammed is inflammable . Simple, right? Think of inflammation (being inflammed), or inflammator...

I've got a whitewater terminology question for any French-speakers on the board. What does "lettres à la poste" mean? I remember reading that phrase several times in Giles Fortin's book. As in: " . . . offre un festin aux amateurs de lettres à la poste." Letters to the post office? I wasn't sure if ...

I also like this perspective: http://www.boatertalk.com/forum/BoaterTalk/1578888 "To go boatin and to not swim is like openin a bottle of wine and only smellin it ........you just ain't enjoyed all the river has to offer." - Louie And the response from cbkoontz: "I would equate swimming with spillin...

Scott, my basement looks the same way! Last year I went through and attempted to "consolidate" all the good minicell pieces. I meant to throw out all the useless pieces. I think I put them all in a special box . . . and you know, I don't think that box ever got thrown out . . . Some cycles are just ...

Never torn anything, but I've had tons of problems from shoulder impingement. Plus, I think I had sort of perma-tendonitis in my left forearm during all of the last two race seasons. Felt like certain things in there were only about another Dickerson session per weekend away from snapping! Legend ha...

Neat poll. I will say that I think it's easier to jump into teleskiing from alpine than it is to jump from K-1 to C-1.
I also think that teleskiing is much more physically exhausting than alpine skiing, while there isn't much of a difference between canoe and kayak.
What do people think?

How is the Upper Green compared the Nanty, anyway? I've always thought it would be neat to paddle under that huge bridge. I'm writing a novel right now with a river in it that's sort of becoming a combination of the Green and the Middlebury (in Vermont). I've run the Middlebury so many times and I'v...
