Lac St. Jean
Are you talking tripping or playing? I've tripped on the Ashuapmushuan (5 days) a few times and have friends who did the Mistassibi Nord-Est once.

Zoom Measurements
It seems that there is not much liking for the Zoom here, so I thought I'd add this. I've paddled two Zooms. The first I dodn't like - too twitchy, but it was outfitted a little small and I really didn't fit in. The second (newer) felt like a Phantom with edges. Really nice, a boat I could love if m...

OC2 Outfitting - Nexus
I have ordered a Nexus and will need to outfit it (saddles). Bob Foote recommends: "Paddling skills and style determine how to best outfit this tandem canoe. For those paddling the boat from standard positions, the back bone should be 67”-68” from the bow for the bow paddler and approximately 58” fr...

VertigeX Tandem
We really enjoy our Dimension. The boat makes us look good playing, stable, forgiving, and fun.
Any thoughts on a VertigeX as the next step up?

Thanks
I can only imagine the amount of time a website like this can suck from your life, if you let it. On behalf of myself and all of the rest of us who use and appreciate your efforts. Thanks

Great start. Hope to see more. Perhaps just include links to things like the Tips for Paddling Class V link a while ago. The Forward Stroke article. 1. Colour and pictures seem to be missing. (Next version?) 2. Under - Details for Experts "The second is to keep the chest arched and leaning forward w...

Drysuit
Got one of these too. Fantastic for cold weather. Unfortunatly I got the Mango one so I would be more visible floating down the river. It's a dirt magnet. Get a dark colour.

Tips for Paddling Class V in an OC1
Excellent site! Check it out. Doesn't have to be CV - true for CIII as well.

I spent less than a year in a Rival and then went to a Phantom. It was scary at first, but now (year and a half later) I wouldn't switch back. There IS a steep learning curve. Lowering the seat as far as you can tolerate (mine is just under 7 inches) will help. (Butt closer to the water increases st...

The old glue for minicall is probably contact cement. Try scrapping off as much of the foam as possible, then spray it with WD40 (I know, use 1002!) and then rub it with a cloth. The contact cement tends to ball up and come off as it warms up. Doesn't happen very quickly, but doesn't damage the surf...

I wouldn't rule out a Zoom. I went from a Starburst (outfitted our tandem for solo - HUGE!) to an Impulse (once - felt like a small tandem) to a Rival (nice boat - the wife is paddling it now) to a Phantom ( still on the learning curve, but now it's my forward stroke - a short boat punishes poor for...

OC Choices
Chimes are what you hear when you press your doorbell. Chines are the edges on the bottom of a hull that make it carve. You might try to test drive a Bell Ocoee. I hear it's not exactly the same as the Dagger version (lower sheer line = wetter), or wait for the new Esquif Zepher. Supposed to be a bi...
