slurry and fiberglass
my adventures with slurry went badly, probably because I failed to use the ridiculously thin coats required. using enough slurry to wet up any kind of woven cloth would likely be too much slurry in one "coat", and would lead to melting the good ABS underneath, bubbles, and general mayhem. on the oth...

Cheat Sat, Savage Sun!
AL
FYI, I think the Savage is running this Sunday too. This is just a public service announcement- I can't find a single soul to carpool with from MI , or else I'd be up for this weekend fer sure.

concentric patches of glass
Hey ezwater, No problems with the patch peeling up around the edges? Not even the leading edge (towards bow)? I've been thinking about using the same method to build up a spot forward of my saddle where the hull is oilcanning noticeably. I should probably do my onside chine as well... I would use We...

hull paint
A long time ago I bought a used Blue Hole OCA that had a puke green Royalex hull. It was just WAY too ugly, so I painted it blue, with a marine hull paint designed for fiberglass boats (not bottom paint). Of course a deep scratch would take it off, but I was surprised at how long the boat stayed blu...

West System G-flex???
Has anybody tried West System G-flex yet? Just my luck to find out about this stuff now that I'm almost done filling dents and holes with ABS slurry... :-? http://www.gougeonbrothers.com/G-flex/ http://www.westsystem.com/ Anyway, they say it can be used with glass, like a less brittle 105 w/ hardene...

JIM P. (et. al)
Sportsfans, I'm concerned that if I lay up some layers of glass using ABS slurry, the slurry won't properly penetrate the yarns in the glass, and the area will be weaker than it would be with ABS alone. Any thoughts? Also, I've always thought that in laying up glass, the purpose of keeping the amoun...

Thanks guys
Thanks for the help. I broke down and bought a half sheet of 1/8" because I could. I think I'm gunna take the advice of the plastics dude that sold me the ABS and lay up some glass into the layers of slurry, and maybe a couple layers of glass & slurry over the edges of the holes. Anybody done this? ...

ABS slurry questions
ABS SLURRY REPAIRS REVISITED 1. What is the right type of plastic pipe to cut up for ABS slurry? (replies of "ABS pipe" will incur the wrath of the river gods) :-? 2. What is the optimal size to cut the pieces into? As small as possible? 3. Can I assume that the proper consistancy is just a bit thic...

best filler for Royalex repair?
I'm no longer in love with JB Weld or PC-7. What are my other choices for filler material? These are the ones I know about: - West System epoxy and little bitty pieces of Kevlar felt - PC-7, etc - many coats of ABS slurry??? - 3M two part urethane epoxy (32thirtysomething) --expensive filler! - Gorr...

Daddy's, etc
I'm definitely up for anything in the Obed/Emory watershed that's running. Daddy's would be at the top of that list.

for the non-electrician...
I'm sure you can build one yourself for less (duh!), but for a "plug and play" electric bilge pump system these are awfully nice. www.rapidrunnerbilge.com I have to say that customer service from this company has run the gamut from near-heroic to pretty dismal . :-? I guess that averages out to just...
