I just removed a foam pedestal and knee pads. I used a fillet knife. The flexible blade allowed me to get up under the foam with cutting the hull and I didn't tear up the foam too bad - good enough to re-glue. As for vinyl patches...I just cut off the nylon loop holding the D ring and left the vinyl...

You can order then from Mad River...or make your own. It is an undertaking to replace them...I replaced mine last year with local wood. I could not find full length pieces so I glued (scarf jointed) pieces together. Here is a pdf from Mad River about replacing wooden gunwales... http://www.madriverc...

I've been through several shoes on my OC-1 and the most comfortable I have found is the Keen Cimarron - recommended by another OC-1 friend Mike. The cimmaron has a substantial toe which was my complaint with other shoes/booties I tried. Also it has a reinforced mesh with a closed heel (not a strap)....

OC-1 Decks. Are they really needed?
I've just replaced the wooden gunwales on my Outrage. The factory decks were just thin plastic triangles screwed into the inwales. As I am contemplating replacing the decks I wonder if decks (especially the small factory MR) are really necessary on my Outrage? Any thoughts?
