If I was paddling lots of steep stuff, I would switch to a Taureae. I've only been in one once, ran one bony III+/IV drop and was really impressed with the boat's stability. Having said that, it seemed like it took about an hour to paddle the 100m from where the boat was to the top of the drop. If y...

So what really made you proud? Chad knowing there's only one way and that's one blade or finally finding an event where they didn't have enough butt boaters?

Hey Jon,

I'm assuming you are the same Jon as pulls lawyers out of trees, or would if you could get there. Are you bringing the DVD on the course? I would be really interested to see it.

Thanks,

Hey Col,

Its probably not too much of a problem in your part of the world but when my Aftershock, which I had leaned against some other boats, came out from under the snow, the hull had warped. I would store boats upside down and covered so the UV doesn't do too much damage to the hull.

Hi, I went through the same skirt phobia for a while. I'm trying to get back into decked boating now. My advice would be to work on getting a bomb-proof roll in your open boat. Get comfortable being upside down in your OC1, giving yourself lots of time to roll, and think about whether to roll or bai...

Hey Class V Boats, You have done a much better job of explaining what I suspected. Friends of mine worked at another canoe company for a long time. They were trying to figure out ways to further lower the weight of kevlar boats. It seemed that the less resin you used, the more prone they were to pin...

I agree with Sbroam - everything except pop-up ads would be fine, they are a pain.

I have to agree - the Prelude is a good production boat for low volume creeking. I would stay away from any of the Royalex boats, they just won't be as durable. If you can get your hands on a Quake, I think you would be very happy. It is a lot more stable than the Prelude. I haven't paddled the Taur...

I've got to agree with Nam - a buddy of mine had one and I think he and the boat had tertiary stability - he was always rotating around the long axis of the boat, but he did have a really good roll!

If you could get a redline, that is a much better Dagger conversion from the same era.

goggles can be really helpful, especially if there is lots of chlorine in the pool. Getting your boat onto the diving board and bouncing up and down in it until you are launched into space is always good for a few laughs and will probably teach you something about setting up your roll from odd posit...

Andy,

Craig is right on the mark when he says to get as much foam into the boat as possible. I have creeked in my skeeter, its not a dry boat, but with the amount of foam in it, it is still manoueverable when full of water and actually rolls up drier.

Hey Martin,

Did they have any idea when the boat might be in the water? I had seen pictures of it and it looked like a longer version of a Prelude made in Royalex.

I'd certainly check out the Spark.

If you paddle a lot of shallower stuff, check out a Prelude. It will be slower than the Spark but more durable.

Hey Geoff,

MEC used to bring in the Spanish Fly. Mid Canada fibreglass might also be able to get one - they might be at the boat show. Used ones seem pretty thin on the ground around here but I think Paul Mason had one for sale recently.
