It turns out it was a chinese copy of an Amsafe buckle NOT a genuine Amsafe which probably didn't help. The little spring in the middle corroded away on one, meaning it wouldnt properly open or close. On the other one(the real worrying failure) the lever part somehow corroded and then bent out of sh...

Yea ill post it up in the morning once i get to my boat.
It's a single snap shackle, the straps have 2 stainless D-rings and they both just go into the same snap shackle, which is connected to the cockpit rim by a length of para-cord.

David Bainbridge in the UK paddles a Mega surf boat of some description as C1 so It has been done successfully before. There is also an Irish C1 slalom paddler (Mark Coleman) who competes in surf competitions paddling a boat of his own making. Basically he chopped up a Slalom boat and made rails for...

it IS flimsy, not so flimsy when you pack it out with minicell foam tho :D

Its plastic, polypropylene as far as I know. Once the foam is in it, its pretty stiff and still light.

I use a ventilation duct rather than a fence rail but same idea. I also glue karrimat down the length of it. Never had any problems with wear on the bottom of the hull, but in a previous conversion where the duct was not padded there was oilcanning issues as the boat was unstiffened in the centre wh...

Used the search function but could find very little.
Anyone paddle one as C1? Think i can get one cheap but would like to know how they are as C1 before I shell out the cash if possible.

Thanks

Niall

Re: skirt models

That sounds like a good suggestion to get reinforcement to mitigate wear around the hip grabbers. Decks are reinforced on the outside to prevent wear from rocks/paddles etc, ive never seen one reinforced on the inside so your hip grabbers can still wear through as its only neoprene or neoprene/late...

I was struggling with this for ages in the pool, in the end after watching a few other C boaters stopped bothering with the bounce at all. Get the boat up vertical, it bounces slightly when you do so and then just tuck for a loop. You have a lot more leverage than a kayaker so generally from this sm...

Assuming that is Dave Bainbridge's? There is a few more out there as well, one of the Irish C1 paddlers made his own and seems to do well in it.
I've been tempted to do the same as I am sick of the lack of speed in my agent!

So... let's cut right to the meat and get back to the original topic... who exactly is or may be pushing to eliminate the OC class from the Worlds... this time and why? It isnt just OC1. They are effectively trying to kill squirt as well by insisting it is held at the main venue. This wont work for...
