Re: GOOP and Royalite...

I think so. Goop seems to stick to just about anything. As mentioned in another thread, apply it to the anchors and hull, let dry somewhat before sticking it together, and heat with a hair dryer.

Re: Lap Belt

To clarify, I meant old Volkswagon style seat belt buckles, basically the same as airplane seat belt buckles. If you pull up, they release. I believe that they are the standard buckle used for lap belts and they are often used for thigh straps in C1s. There are several other threads in this forum th...

Re: Royalex Adhesives

Be careful with the vinabond. If the skin on the royalex is not intact, and it may not be after removing old outfitting, the vinabond can eat a hole in your boat (as I know from personal experience). A recommended solution that I have heard is to put the vinabond on like contact cement. That is, spr...

Re: Lap Belt

I added thigh straps in my Ledge using 2 seat belt straps with a single quick release (one cord connecting the buckles attached by drilling a hole through the buckles). I attached one end of the straps to the rear thwart on either side of the saddle, then tied the other ends of the straps together a...

OC roll videos

I ran across these rolling videos when checking out another thread ("longboat ender). They do a great job of breaking down the crux points -- best tips for a roll tune-up I've seen. http://vimeo.com/29642417" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://vimeo.com/29704063" onclick="window.op...

Re: Dagger OC-2 Identification Help

Looks like a Dimension to me too and, although we can't see much of the hull, it seems to be in excellent shape. Looks like a great find.

Thanks. Did you do the trip? It seems pretty hit and miss when you call field offices but I should give that a try.

Lake Powell

I'm considering a canoe trip on Lake Powell during the first week of April to paddle, camp, explore side canyons, and hike. I'd appreciate advice from people who have paddled Lake Powell about a possible itinerary.

The spectators at Worlds last year in Missoula were into the OC-1. It adds variety to the competition. Can't see anything wrong about it. However, I suspect that the "haters" are not such a big group. It's all paddling, right?

The North Fork Flathead in Montana along the border of Glacier National Park fits your description -- 58 miles from the Canadian border to Blankenship Bridge, up to class II+ in August. You can extend it a bit farther if desired. I've used Glacier Raft Company for shuttle but there are a variety of ...

Isn't anyone going to speak up for the Zephyr? I've owned an OutrageX and a Zephyr. I don't see a big difference in speed or how they carve but the Zephyr is drier, more stable, easier to roll, and a much better surfer. However, I can't compare to the regular (12') Outrage. Both are good all-around ...

I don't recall the cfs but we did an early summer run on the NF John Day in open boats and it was not difficult -- maybe 2+? There are a few sharp bends but no big or extended drops. It was a nice self support trip with good primative camping and scenery.

Most of the local rivers are spring runoff but the Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork, 45 minutes from Missoula, is there all summer. It's a pool/drop, bigger volume (3,000-5,000 cfs in August) class 3 with fun play features. It's also a pretty run. See the photos and information at the American White...
