Duct tape really is good on wounds. Better than regular bandages, according to some.

If you do decide to cut it (and I'm not saying you should), once you get the pin out you can remove the grip from the shaft by heating the shaft with a heat gun. You need to heat from the end of the shaft to about 4" down, and then gently pull the grip out. Wait for it to come easily. If you pull to...

I went to a cabinet shop and asked them to cut me 4 1"x1" pieces of ash 14' long. Then I used a router to round the upper outer edge. This was for a glass Edge. Worked fine, and not very expensive.
