Re: fleece rubber, where to find

I have some "fuzzy rubber" I bought in the mid-to-late 90's. I have added several XX to my torso and it no longer fits :-( Now I just use a fleece sweater and several NRS rash guards under either a splash top or dry top. Depending on warm I want to be.

Re: Paddle Tape ?

The Werner Bandit showed signs of wear from rubbing on the gunnel--all the way through the black to the white. I tried bicycle handlebar wrap--colorful and cushiony but didn't last. I tried baseball bat grip tape--didn't handle water well; became squishy; wore off and didn't last. I finally used 10 ...

Re: Fix or paddle?

You can fix the delamination by drilling small holes (0.25 in dia) several inches apart into the void but not all the way through the hull. Then inject G Flex into the void through the holes. Cover the delaminated area with wax paper and place a 25 lbs bag of sand on the wax paper to "clamp" the hul...

Re: Saddle position in Outrage X ?

Well, if you posted this a month or so ago, I could have gone and measured--but my OutrageX is now in a landfill. 1. Place boat upside down on sawhorse so it is balanced. 2. Mark where gunnels meet sawhorse--should end up with four marks--2 on each gunnel. 3. Turn the boat over so the gunnels are no...

Re: paddlers with glasses?

Drive to and from the river with the current prescription. Paddle on the river with the previous prescription. Carry the prescription previous to that as a spare (with its own retetnion strap)--for just in case. Sometimes must bend the visor up so I get more airflow across the face. That helps with ...

I had some delaminations on my canoe--more like a blister than a wide open sore. I drilled 1/8 inch holes into the blister, being careful not to penetrate the hull [most of the time]; injected West Epoxy [notG/Flex]; placed a 25lb sand bag on the area and left it overnight. I now have several holes ...

It has been 150 years since any Yankees have burned a Southern city, so you should be safe. If you listen fast enough, you might be able to understand them. When they ask: What kind of soda do you want?", what they mean is: What kind of Coke are you drinking? When they speak about fixing, they mean ...

If you want pictures of Boy Scouts, check with Everett Holle with Troop 96??? in the Rocky Ridge area. I remember help setting a Z-drag to pull Boy Scouts out of that pile of foam on the left on Moccasin Gap on the Coosa. We did take Boy Scouts to the Hiwassee for tubing. The younguns froze their bu...

For information about the history of whitewater boating, I recommend Sue Taft's book--The River Chasers.

Sue paddles an Ovation. It is yellow.

With respect to campgrounds, the state park is not the place for boaters--expensive; park rangers come around at 9:00 PM and tell you it is time to be quiet; and no adult beverages. Other options are: Paddler's Lane [formerly known as RiverSport] in Confluence. $6 per person per night. You can come ...
