Re: Paddle alone?
. . . I enjoy paddling alone. . . Good thought-provoking thread, Einar. I can't argue with any of your logic. But here's an alternate point of view: Me? I don't enjoy paddling alone. For myself, it's all about people -- old friends, new friends, friends I've just met. Laughter has a lot to do with ...

Re: Choosing a boat?
. . . I am starting to consider L'edge vs Octane 91 vs Option. The Option seems to be a more maneuverable, but slower, boat than the l'edge. Also not quite as dry? It may not support bigger paddlers as well . . . So I am thinking more L'edge vs Octane. . . Coupla quick additional comments about L'E...

Re: River Elf Storm Chaser
. . . I'm not sure we'd want to go too much shorter than 12' though - just to keep the hull speed up. I imagine that it will still feel pretty "short" for most C-2 teams even at 12'. . . I'm with you here, Chris. I'm envisioning something big and stable enough that it won't scare off folks who have...

ONE Viper-12 f/s (Clipper composite); old and well used, but solid; outfitting could use some TLC; $450; Pix on request.yarnellboat wrote:Rick, Are those Viper 12s still for sale? . . .

Re: Choosing a boat?
What the others said ^ ^ ^ Western does have a few WW boats on hand, and sometimes can get boats brought in with minimal delay, IF they can find a truck headed west. Generally, they'll work hard to get you going. I might add that I've bought both a River Elf and an Option within the last couple of y...

Re: River Elf Storm Chaser
. . . We are hoping they will build a C-2 similar to the Storm Chaser C-1. We plan to buy one if they do! . . . You're not the first one to suggest this! How about a march down to Alabama, and a picket line around the factory? I'll bring placards! (You mentioned coffee and doughnuts, Chris?)...

Re: Introducing the Next Generation to the Single Blade
. . . the eldest said she was interested in a kayak and asked what boats I had. I I want to do the same (encourage single-blading) for the other 8 if possible. I think a single blade makes you a more accomplished "reader" and creates a more unique experience than I usually see from the "yakers". A ...

Re: Dagger Aftershock Re-Outfit
Great post. IMHO, the Aftershock is a good hull to paddle (maybe better than the 'Fly) and certainly easy to roll. Nice to see someone approach the wetness issue with positive strategies.

Re: Slalom boat outfitting.
. . . a skirt issue. I ordered a custom skirt from Snapdragon and it came with a few inches of extra material around the bungee. My issue is I can't for the life of me get the dam thing on! Any tips or tricks?? I'm tempted to just cut the extra off, FWIW, Greg, the custom Snapdragon skirt I ordered...

Re: narrowing a boat?
. . . Pulling in the gunwales will narrow the waterline and possibly straighten out the keel line a bit, so it depends on the boat whether the change is beneficial (to you) or not. What Bob P said. In boating, to get something, you often have to give up something else. I've tended usually to widen ...

Re: Tandem boating, but drier. . .
I wonder how well a topo-duo would convert to C2? Now we're talking! Thanks, Pat. Funnily enough, I took a walk through the archives, and this topic has been explored in the past, albeit notso definitively: https://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2441&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href)...

Re: Tandem boating, but drier. . .
Thanks, folks, for the responses: Larry -- yes, I've been on the Shaggy webpage many times, and note they've been working on a C-2 design. At around 8', however, it might be fun as a park'n play hull, but as a general river-runner, I'm not sure it would work for doofuses like me. Adam -- interesting...

Tandem boating, but drier. . .
Lots of good chat lately about tandem boats -- Piranhas, Vertiges-X, Captions, Mergansers, Octane 92s, Blasts. But not much about decked tandem boats -- C-2s. I have an old home-made C-2, built in 1970 from a local mould derived from slalom racing. Lately, I've dusted it off, and got it back on the ...
