Nano Nano

Hey friends

Wondering if anyone has converted a Pyranha Nano to C-1. (I couldn't find much in the Search). Would love reviews! Thanks'

Re: What are you nifty water bottle carrier setups for a small solo canoe with bulkhead?

... I finally made the transition to a modern, shorter, plastic boat (moving from an Outrage and Ocoee to a L'Edge SuperLite). ... Part of it is that I'm not loving the bulkhead, but hopefully I can just keep carving &/or glueing until I get it right. Though I can't figure out how it won't be too l...

Re: Paddling Magazine article

Adam -- well deserved recognition. I enjoyed the article immensely. Your point about Facebook supplanting the forum is, sadly, accurate -- I haven't been as active as I once was on the forum. It's easier for Facebook pages to serve 'local' communities, and one tends to use Facebook as a way to maint...

Re: Good K hulls for C-1 conversion

Thanks for jumping in, Mike. (I kinda hoped you might!) I'm doing a lot of instruction for the local University Club, and with no appreciable budget, we've been chasing through the local gear-swap pages for older hulls to convert. Sadly, ain't seen too many ZETs floating around. There's certainly lo...

Good K hulls for C-1 conversion

Hey friends A few years ago, the Pyranha Burn was considered to be the premier hull for C-1 conversion (creeking and general river-running). The Karnali and the Remix were strong runners-up, along with the Bliss-Stick Mystic. Brands have come and gone. Wondering which hulls are currently HOT for con...

Re: gluing vinyl d ring patches to royalex

It may be the same stuff, under a different name, but north of 49 we use Vinyl-Tec 2000, from North Water:

Re: Need hard plastic D-ring source

Western Canoeing and Kayaking, in Abbotsford, BC, used to stock them. Give them a buzz -- they prob'ly have some on the back shelves. They also (used to) stock the 2-part adhesive kits which work well with the plastic bases. When you install them, I find it works well to drill small holes in the bas...

Re: Foam side panels in mini-cell bulkhead boats?

Further to Wendy's comment, boats not equipped with bulkhead outfitting often require more in the way of customizing: anchors, tiedowns, etc. -- a good reason for not expecting the factory to foam the side-walls. That said, once your outfitting is complete, I think it's a good idea to add side-wall ...

Re: Northwest Kanu Fest 2018

What a fantastic time we had at last year's Fest!! Seattle's Paddle Trails Canoe Club did a superb job leading trips, and it was a rush to see paddlers from Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia all rocking together! For those who frequent Facebook, here's the official event page: https://www.fac...

River Elf Storm Chaser C-1

I LOVE this boat, but my elderly knees and ankles can't squeeze into a C-1 any more. This is a M/L, built to be bomb-proof, with an extra layer in both the hull and the deck. It's completely outfitted, with a 6" saddle, bulkhead with knee cut-outs, hip blocks, and QR thigh straps with stainless stee...

Re: Esquif Blast for sale

I'm definitely interested, but live in the Pacific NorthWest. I'd pay a reasonable shipping charge to get the boat to, say, Bellingham, WA, but have no knowledge of shipping options in the U.S.

Any ideas?

Thx

Re: water transfer thru bulkhead

I've done this with all of my bulkhead saddles. I start by punching out the factory-installed pvc pipe in the existing hole (way too small!) The last one needed persuasion, using a hammer (sideways) and a stubby screwdriver. Swearing helps. Once removed, as per Wendy's suggestion, it's bread-knife t...
