Nitro to Viper 11

I pick up a nearly new Viper 11 about two months ago based on the recommendations and advice of some of the gurus frequenting this board (and a test paddle made possible by Tenzing). See http://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?t=7964479 It's been a wet fall in western Mass, so just yesterday I had my...

Where are you located? There was a Mini-Me posted on the NPMB website a few months back. Not sure if it sold or not.

Gurus, I picked up the Viper 11 this morning. My first impression is that it is at least 10 or 15 pounds lighter than the nitro. I’ll be heading out for my inaugural run as soon as the rivers come back down from hurricane flood stage (I’m gonna stick with the nitro for this storm). Thanks again for ...

Hey gurus, thanks again for all your help on this, and a special thanks to tenzing for letting me test paddle your Viper 11 up on the Deerfield last month. Hope you enjoyed the brew. I’ve got a line on a Viper 11. Owner reports that he purchased the boat earlier this year new from Mohawk and paddled...

Gotta add to what longboatin said. In my short experience as a relatively novice boater, switching sides has allowed me to progress fairly quickly and feel comfortable in class III, as well as learning to perform (and enjoying) some snappy eddy turns and fast water ferries. Is switching really that ...

Have you checked in with Zoar Outdoor in Charlemont? They've had OC-1s on their racks.

Thank you gurus. I checked out the Bull Dog info. Seems like a really nice boat, but it’s a grand more than the Viper, which is practically the cost of another boat. I think some sort of summer armada up on the Deerfield is a wonderful idea ! There are two sections that have regular summer releases,...

Update: So I very much appreciate the feedback you all have provided and I have given it some thought and done some research. My thinking is that given my relatively low skill level, I would likely end up breaking a composite boat. So while I haven’t completely ruled out composite, I don’t think I a...

Thanks all. I bought the nitro from a very experienced paddler who I understand could paddle anything. The chines were definitely worn when I bought the boat, but they continue to wear, and the fact that when out of the water, the boat gets dragged more than carried isn't helping. Millbrook is near ...
