There is no substitute for proper outfitting. I use ankle blocks in my C-1. Without them, I couldn't manage at all. They don't have to be very high....maybe 3/4 inch or so off the hull. The way I got used to staying in my first C-1 was to sit in it and watch TV in my living room for as long as I cou...

Pardon me- I meant to say Perception Corsica/S!! Good boat for creeks as long as you don't weigh more than 150 lbs or so.

Cascade
Hey- I don't know if you are still looking for a Cascade, but I have one I would sell. It's in excellent shape. It's white with black mottling on it. It's been stored inside all of it's life- never out in the sunlight except for when it was being used on the river. I never used this boat very much b...

Slasher C-1 for sale in Middle Tennessee
I've got a dark blue Slasher for sale. The condition of this boat is excellent- as good as you will ever see. It's been stored inside all of it's life- no UV damage on this one! I think I used it on the Ocoee a couple of times, and once on the Gauley, and once on the Piney River in TN. That's about ...

Good to hear from you, Bill!
Hey Bill....I was just wondering the other day where in world you were at, as I was driving by the house on CC Camp road. How have you been? I assume you are still paddling, or you wouldn't be on this forum! Are you a C-1 paddler these days? I've been OK...don't paddle anywhere near as much as I use...

Thanks for your interest in the Slasher. Where are you at? Do you have any questions about the boat that need addressing? Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

C-2 rolling techniques
Jrsh- Now you've got me thinking about this. As far as the offside roll for bowman, if he had a good style, I'm sure this would be OK for the most part. Like you, I could roll my Gyramax pretty well with an offside, although I rarely used it unless I was stuck sideways in a hole, and offside was the...

"Hades Hole"
Hades Hole....LOL... I saw that in my last post just above, and tried to correct it to the real name, and it wouldn't let me, in fact, it put it in there when I submitted the post. Is there some kind of automatic "bad word deletion" on this forum? I'm new here. Richard

gyramax "edge"
Jrsh- any "edge" that the Gyramax has is of course very conservative compared to the low volume squirt type C-1's, and the full-on slalom hulls, but it does in fact have enough to use, especially for heavier paddlers. I'll put it this way- when I bought that old Gyramax (which I still have and paddl...

gyramax compared to hydra centaur
By the way, Marclamenace, the old Centaur was a decent boat for just going down the river, especially for those new to the C-1 experience, but in comparison to the Gyramax, there really is no comparison. The Hydra boat had no character- it was as round everywhere as a boat could be. No edge anywhere...

gyramax eddy turns
Actually, a Gyramax really will make a snappy eddy turn (relatively speaking, of course- it's a long boat) It does have a slalom-based hull design, and so weight shifts and leans are all-important, as with any hull of that sort. I still paddle my '84 Gyramax, and I find that by throwing my weight to...
