Re: WESTFEST 2013

Hello Jeff, Looking like 10-12 paddlers from BC coming down for Westfest again. Eight of us will be on MFS just before, arriving evening of the 19th. Will you have demos again? If so, can I reserve them now? I'm interested in the light weight L'edge and Prelude for Saturday and Sunday. Looking forwa...

I have a ME outfitted for both solo or tandem. My partner and I paddle it tandem with combined weight of 300 pounds without difficulty. I'm sure you can pick up a ME pretty cheap.

Thanks to everyone for the replies...except for the fellow BC'ers who are off topic! :D I have a few options. One involves getting a Prelude from Portland, OR to BC. Just wondering if anyone out there may be headed that way in the next month or so and would be willing to transport a boat. Thanks, Neil

I contacted the shop in Quebec City and they still have a Prelude but won't ship it. I'm looking into ways to get it out west. If anyone is headed this way and could bring a canoe then please let me know.

Thanks,
Neil

WTB: Esquif Prelude

Looking for a used or new (good deal) Esquif Prelude. I'm located out west, so no doubt will need to be shipped. Send me a PM if you have one.

Thanks,

Hey Rick, Jackson redesigned the Hero in 2008 I believe. It now has more of a planing hull rather than a displacement hull and is a much better boat. I've only paddled it as a kayak and it is great for a larger volume river runner. The planing hull allows it to surf some, but it's not a play boat. N...

Repairing an Ash Gunwale

Busted the inside ash gunwale on my Caption and I'm looking for input on how best to repair it. You can see the damage in the photos at: http://picasaweb.google.ca/nfried3/BrokenCaptionGunwale?authkey=Gv1sRgCJL-lfP6y-O9JA# Located about a third of the way from the stern on right side, the inside ash...

Adams River 2010 Canyon Carnage

The Beaver Canoe Club from Vancouver, BC makes an annual trek to the Adams River on the Labor Day weekend. The Adams River is mostly a class II run with II+ weir and a short canyon of class III with a large pool below to pick up the yard sales. This is a great run for the novice and other class II p...

Never did like the idea of the external cowtail, whether clipped around the side or over the shoulder. They pose a real hazard for entanglement/snag IMHO. I have the Astral 300 vest with web toe tucked into a side pocket. Nothing to snag onto while paddling or swimming. Originally, I had the large p...

Hey Pat - Yeah, I've compared setups with both Einar and Chris's Vipers. I was also out paddling on the Chucks the other day with a couple of Dean's friends, Bob and Rob, from Kamloops. Rob has a Viper11 as well. For all three of these cases I'm 3"-4" further forward. Actually, it was seeing Rob sta...

The feedback from others looking on is the trim appears to be neutral when I'm sitting upright. As I lean into the forward strokes the trim is shifted forward making it bow heavy. I've had difficulty keeping my ferries and when surfing I really have to pay attention to the tilt otherwise I carve off...
