That's awesome, the Nahanni is on my bucket list. Bring a head net!

I'd also like to add, that I'd like to get a clean run over Ohiopyle, with slightly less "life flashing before the eyes"

I used one last weekend to cut down a saddle. It cuts very well, but still leaves the surface a bit rough. Its a very good tool.

Goals for 2011

Bored at work, and I thought this might be a nicer topic  What are your canoeing-related goals for 2011, if you have any? I'll start. I want to really work on my forward stroke, get it to the point where it is video guide good. I think that will solve some problems and make boating a lot easie...

A big issue I see is with the saddle. While you might get away with extra minicell and duct tape on a demo boat, for loaners and test runs, especially on someone's personal boat. The saddle is probably the most important piece of outfitting, but it might be the most difficult to be realistically adj...

OK, thanks guys. I'm about to glue in the saddle, so hopefully everything will be all good. A bandsaw is WAY better for all foam work IMO. Totally agree. Only problem was that I decided to take an inch off the height after I had glued the blocks together, and my bandsaw didn't cut eight inches tall....

The saw blade didn't kick back like it hit something, it just jumped a bit like it bit back into foam after not cutting anything as it passed through the void. I'm 99% sure nothing was in the hole, because I didn't find any remnants. Theoretically, it might have been a bubble formed in the pouring p...

Void in a Minicell foam block. Is this normal?

I was cutting apart a block of foam to use in my saddle, when the table saw shuddered, scaring the crap out of me. When I finished the cut, I saw what had caught. There was a void (a contained hole) inside the block of foam, roughly the size of a chestnut. Is this normal for a minicell block? I doub...

I've been thinking about this too as I outfit my boat. I'll post some pictures next week when I finish, as a lot of my outfitting is meant to be as adjustable as possible.

I can't answer this question as someone who has a good roll, but as someone who is learning a good roll. What will make a good roll for me is one that does not hurt my shoulder. That's first and that's most important. Secondly is reliability. I want to depend on it. Third is making it smooth. But, i...

That's accurate, as far as I've been told in conversations with them. They have all the Curtis molds, not the Hemlock ones. Companion may follow the Dragonfly. Either way it's great to see some of the best boats ever made back out there. I was getting tired of hunting Craigslist for them.

What's the harm in having Tommy try to expand the sport? For a year I've watched people crap all over him. Granted, occasionally the stuff he says is a bit extreme, but at the end of the day, how does his fervent advertising of the sport affect us in any negative way? Yeah, it's probably always goin...

Yeah, Wendy hit the nail on the head. To most people that don't understand the sport, Class III and Class V look the same. I remember being shocked once when I heard that people ran the Lower Yough in a canoe. Then I ran it in a canoe. Go figure.

Just have fun. That's all there is to it.

That time period had nothing to do with designs. There were more cboaters simply because there were only cboaters. Canoes were the only whitewater vessel available. Imagine if no kayaks existed today. There would probably be more canoeists. Canoeing shrank as more options became available. And as to...
