Re: Best full-slice conversion

I have a Big EZ. It's very slow, but good on steep waves. I had a Forplay, which was faster and would stay on waves that weren't as steep. The Forplay is as close as you'll get to Sith performance in plastic.

Re: Trouble rolling wavesport EZ c1

A tall back rest really helped me. I like 6" above the seat. Just be sure to round off any corners that are above the rim to prolong the life of your skirt.

Re: Trouble rolling wavesport EZ c1

No thigh straps. It's a lap-belt. It's attached to the front bolts for the hip pads. Those holes were for the kayak seat.

Re: Trouble rolling wavesport EZ c1

I have a Big EZ. The problem I had initially was that I'd roll up into a bow-stall. Pretty neat when you want to, but not so neat in the middle of a rapid. lol I found that it rolls better if you have the paddle closer to the stern rather than straight out to the side when you initiate the roll. Her...

Re: Long Lost C-Boater wondering: what to paddle?

The only slalom boat I've been in is my 4 meter Vajda Nova. I'm down to 205 & it sits a little deep with me in it. It's very fast, but does not pivot anywhere near as smoothly as my Viper. I thought the Viper was fast till I paddled the Nova. The Viper is my go to boat for big stuff & ocean surfing....

Re: C1 conversion bulkhead questions

The key for me has always been a tall backrest. The boats that I have the least trouble in have the back rests ~6" above the seat, a foam bulkhead and a lap belt. Be sure to round off the corners of the backrest where it contacts the skirt.

Re: Found - Phone in Labyrinth Canyon (11/25/20)

Some folks list their emergency contact as "ICE - xxx". If this person did, you could call that number and they'd know who the phone belongs to.

Re: Surf c1

I have a buddy who has a composite surf specific kayak. He says it's awesome at the beach. It's real funky on the river though. I love my Viper C-1 in the ocean. Getting out past the breakers can be tough.

Re: Under rated boats...

My top two are the Viper and Sith. Neither are under rated. The Sith is my favorite for surfing. I've been asked if it was designed for my local wave. The Viper is fast, surf's well on the river and ocean, plus I can stern squirt it on flatwater. It's my go to boat for big, scary stuff. How many Amo...

Re: C1 & C2 Boating

Jim, my old viper was a winter port boat. After I cracked it, I picked up a used New Wave Viper. If I remember correctly, it's 10lbs. heavier than the winter port. I talked to Paul S. about building a lighter one. He said no problem. It's a great design, I just don't paddle enough these days to just...

Re: C1 & C2 Boating

I'm with you on the speed. I don't think I'd want it for big stuff. I tend to pick up the speed when I get scared. Lol. The storm chaser is faster than my Sith, but no match for my vipers or 4 meter vajda nova. Other than the inability to pivot, I think the storm chaser is a darned good all around b...

Re: C1 & C2 Boating

I was able to spend a lunch break in a storm chaser at my local park and play spot. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it surfed. My Sith surfs better, but the Storm Chaser probably does most everything else better.

Re: C1 & C2 Boating

Glad you picked up that glass atom. I would expect these weight reduction to make it easy more responsive than the plastic version.
