Re: Kokatat custom fitting?

I had a custom suit made a couple of years ago and I will never go back to stock. I am tall and thin and the large has always been really baggy. I sent my measurements to Kokatat and now I have a medium suit with 5" added to the arms, 2" to the torso, and 1" to the legs and it fits me better than an...

Re: wallace wallacing

As a Kayaker who moonlights as a C-1er and OC-1er I would say that there are no rapids that you can't roll in, sure there are boiley rapids or situations where you are on your off side where it is difficult to roll, but really there aren't any rapids I've seen in 14 years of kayaking and canoeing th...

Re: SB Covert in action!

Hull looks sweet, on point on the design. Turn the handles to be perpendicular to the hull, the in-line hard handles are always the worst. When lowering a boat down a hill or cliff this in-line handles always pinch the hades out of your hand and a carabiner doesn't nest in them as nicely. Pyranhas B...

Re: C1 Outfitting

My other concern with the back support's Angle stock busting through the spray deck. Maybe consider rounding the corners our putting a foam cover over it.

Re: fishing from your canoe

Let me clarify, I'm doing this in flat water. Either lakes with a breeze or streams and rivers with a mild current. I'm not hove-to in a micro eddy in the middle of a multi-move class V above a 100 footer that lands in the shark tank at sea world. We're talking some high quality Olympic peninsula fl...

fishing from your canoe

Hi All, I've been doing some fishing from an old prespector on rivers as well as lakes and been having great success with the fishing but limited success with the catching. I've been using an anchor trolley to position the boat in the wind or current but haven't been able to determine the best way t...

Re: shaping minicell...

for very fine and specific shaping I've made a custom tool. What you'll need: old pen (with the guts removed, bic or similar cheap pen) or very narrow bamboo, basically a tube to create a handle coping saw blade Create a "U" (the "U" can be as small as you like it, mine is about an inch wide) with t...

Re: Pump for videoboating

As a former video boater here is some advice. (keep in mind I was in a K1) In the early season you might need the pump, the water is big on the new and moves along quick above 5-6 feet. Once the water drops out those pools are really slow moving and you have lots of times between each shot location ...

Re: Dagger Mamba-C-1

Not me, but some C-1 mamba footy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=047w_0fk9-A I'm a part time C-boater, but use the new large mamba as my K-1 creekboat (class IV-V) and think that it would rock as a C-1. Really wide and stable, fast planing hull, and really loves to stay on the surface. I say go for ...

Re: Life expectancy of a drysuit

I have a palm Stikine that is going on 4 years, but the feet have been compromised for the last two. it's still keeps me really dry everywhere else as long as I don't walk in the water. I get 60+ days a year out of it, and one full season of raft guiding in it, so add another 40 days to that. If you...

Re: Pyranha Everest

Ok so I'm a kayaker that does a little open boating so I can't speak directly to how the everest performs as a C-1, but I can speak to the everest as a 180 lbs. paddler. So the everest rocks if your looking for a boat that A) tracks, B) is fast, C) you can drive towards a feature and cruise off of i...

Re: Two boots or not two boots?: a drysuit question

As a boater in the Pacific northwest where we have to wear a drysuit pretty much the entire season, I vote for drysuit with booties. The booties make all the difference, on a cold day when your portaging or walking at river level having dry feet makes all the difference. Cold feet will make you feel...
