Madawaska River Levels
Hey all, Going to be paddling on the Madawaska (in Ontario) April 25-27. Hoping to paddle each section each day. Any word on the current levels? If the upper isn't running, are there any other close by runs we should hit on the last day? This might not be the best place to ask, but I know there are ...

drysuit question
Might be a silly question, but is there a specific way I should be storing my drysuit? I was just thinking of when you store a tent, you want to stuff it (or store it loose) not fold it because the repeated creasing will wear those spots faster. I just have it on a hanger right now. But that might n...

Used one of these bad boys http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/3/HouseHome/Hardware/KnockDownFasteners/PRDOVR~0617643P/Buildex+Interscrew+Nickel%2C+5mm+27-36mm.jsp?locale=en As well as epoxy. Then sealed it all with a waterproof sealant. Then electrical taped it all. Overkill and bombproof. Dave

Re: Ontario - what rivers should we visit?
Its a bit early in the season but with this years weather who knows - there's a lot more over in quebec, like the Rouge. If you're up by the Mad, do the Openogo too. Highway 7 Salmon & Beaver. Check out Mackfest - its right around that time Cool, will do. Mackfest is right in the middle of finals f...

Re: Why do Open boaters whine so much about kayakers??
I've never seen open boaters hating on kayakers. In my group of paddling buddies there is for sure some joking around going on. Real men don't wear skirts... But then again, my boat is broken because it has a giant hole in the top. Right? A lot of kayakers respect open boaters. I have also heard kay...

Ontario - what rivers should we visit?
Hey guys. Planning a week long paddling trip starting April 20th or 21st. It will be an awesome break between exams and work! We basically want to drive around and hit some rivers we don't get to paddle often or have never paddled. So far we are planning on spending two days on the Madawaska and two...

Hey Smurf, not sure where to look. A link would be much appreciated!Smurfwarrior wrote:I always then add a small metal spring pin through the shaft and grip peg to ensure it doesn't come out or twist. Never had one fail.. check out my review of the Core paddle to see the pins and all that.

Re: T-Grip Attaching
Sounds like west systems Gflex is the way to go... But I have never seen it for sale in Ontario.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the input so far,

Re: T-Grip Attaching
Yea I was thinking about putting a small bolt or pin through. Nervous it would make the shaft split though. What do you mean by high density filler? Recently cut down an aquabound edge. I've tried using two types of glue with no luck. http://www.biosafe-inc.com/marine.htm - Waited ~ 80 hours but it came right out http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoRepairAccessories/Adhesives/PRDOVR~0383718P/PermaPoxy+5+Minute+Plastic+Weld.jsp?local...

Re: Removing the T grip from an Aquabound paddle
Hey I just cut down my paddle the other day. Check out this thread. https://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7965777 Heat the handle in hot water until it comes loose (submerge 3 inches of the shaft too). Do it gradually though - heat and twist. Not sure what epoxy works well. The epoxy i got d...

Re: Cutting a Paddle Down
Thanks Doug. Good to know! I'm going to wait until the full 72 hours is up and see. If not I will for sure give the plastic weld a try. Still feels a bit loose, hoping it will hold up.DougB wrote:Dave, go back to crappy T and get one of the "plastic weld" 2 part syringe epoxies. These will do the trick.
