A big part of the beauty of a canoe is that it is a human powered craft.

Re: C1 to OC1 or not
Frist I would like to say you guys are great. I like what you said. I am 57. I get out of my boat(C1) every hour to hour & half, and stay comfortable. My saddle is at 7 3/4", on the high side I take it, but works for me. My Fink has bulkhead thigh braces which I do like better than the straps in my ...

I am not planning to do a conversion. It just looked like a C1 when I saw it.

Jackson Antix
The Jackson Antix looks like a C1 to me, 26.25" beam, good symmetry, Fink like front end volume.

Re: Stern "squirting" in a Cascade C1?
I like that it looks like what William Nealy drew as a C1 in his books. I has good hull speed, bow volume, and stable handling that is very familiar to me. It cleans Ohiopyle falls everytime(I'm not that good). Its part of my past so I like it. Rand I have not paddled a conversion. I have paddled an...

Re: Stern "squirting" in a Cascade C1?
I paddle a Fink, but the Cascade is my go to for Ohiopyle Falls. I really like the boat, though there are some haters. Sounds like you will figure it out. Good luck, Rand
Also, I just wanted to say that being a Gyramax paddler is very cool.

Re: Red Mo Race
The Red Mo Race was a good time, if a little adverse, it was shared by all with good spirit. Aaron was bare foot as always(good to see you man). The kayakers were covered with a frozen glaze of ice. It was a bit cold this year.

Re: curious about c1
C1: alot easier to roll , much warmer, be aware you will no longer be an an open boater, and kayakers wont get you either OC1: looks cool, better ride(you get popped higher), can crash bigger holes, more room for stuff, looks like a normal canoe Rand I paddle a Fink and it is a bit harder to get out...

Re: critique my strokes
Hey Harry, per my question, I also use a cleated stern painter. It is a bit old school I guess, given the comments I get about it on the river. But, I to tow boats back to people on the river all the time, and I can tie my boat to a tree.
