Re: How MITH can save tandem whitewater canoeing.
It's about as intuitive as it gets for learning initially and a pretty solid platform to advance from. I've been an ORCKA moving water canoe instructor for years, so I'm heavily indoctrinated, but I can't see myself teaching any other skill set to begin with. As an aside, the tilt-upstream technique...

Re: Searching for the perfect tandem/solo, river/lake hybrid
Thanks for all the great input everyone. Have to admit I'd never even heard of the Scout or Merganser but they look like excellent designs. And I'll echo PP's thoughts, that is a lovely outfitting job Nick. Any ideas on how the ME would compare to the Cascade and Pocket Canyon? Perhaps the ME's rock...

Re: Searching for the perfect tandem/solo, river/lake hybrid
Thanks for all the responses so far. The Appalachian definitely caught my interest, I'd love to hear your thoughts after you've put it through the works Harry. The Pocket Canyon was something I looked into as well but I'm worried it'd be borderline unusable on lakes. I'm really interested in the AC/...

Searching for the perfect tandem/solo, river/lake hybrid
Before I get into it, yes I know this boat doesn't really exist and I'd be better off with a couple of boats each geared towards a different use. Unfortunately I don't have the money or space for a big fleet so I'd rather a jack of all trades, master of none that is a little less likely to be redund...

Gates for boat control
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for online or written resources on flatwater gates. The English Gate is the only one I can recall from my canoe camp days.
Looking for something (useful) to do on cottage mornings, any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Millbrook Inferno $650
@strong The sentiment is nice but I highly doubt a race-weight Inferno would be an appropriate learning tool for an instructional program.

Re: Shaggy Pagan
It's a full cut, worked great for the original owner and me (160 and 165lbs respectively). I couldn't say what the top end of the weight spectrum would be. Nam is going to take a run at figuring out shipping or hitching a ride for it to the west coast, but I can let you know if that doesn't work out...

Re: Shaggy Pagan
Hey Nam, I've got one I wouldn't be opposed to selling. Great shape, wicked design, its an old team boat and I think there are some photos of it in the archives here at Cboats (trying searching Shaggy Pagan in the For Sale section). If I wasn't stuck in St John's for the foreseeable future I wouldn'...

Free Perception Whip-It Shell
Old but sound green Perception Whip It Shell free to whoever wants it. It used to have some pretty shoddy C1 outfitting in it but that’s long gone.

Great looking product and nice website, best of luck guys. Any chance you guys will be at Moosefest or any other events besides the Armada this season?

Re: Hornet Reviews?
Never got a chance to try a Cascade. My experience is almost all OC1 but I've been paddling for awhile, and I'm used to low pedestals thanks to my Reaktor, so I thought I'd look into a C1 for big water and creeking

Hornet Reviews?
Looking specifically for a creeker/big-water boat and the Millbrook Hornet keeps coming up. Any one have thoughts or experiences to share about the design when its been used in that context? For what its worth I'm around 165lbs and I'm used to (even prefer) narrower boats. Keeping an open mind so an...
